Tulsa Edison moves up after big rivalry win

The high school basketball playoffs have already started for the small schools, with the medium and large schools not far behind.

Regional tournaments for Classes A and B are this week, with Classes 2A, 3A and 4A playing district playoffs this weekend and Classes 5A and 6A starting regionals next week. While pairings are set, there's still plenty to gain from winning games at the end of the regular season.

Here are this week's SBLive Oklahoma Top 25 boys basketball rankings. 

Note: Rankings and records are from games through Feb. 13.

1. Broken Arrow (19-0); last week (1)

The Tigers beat Jenks by five and Tulsa Booker T. Washington by eight last week. They finish the regular season with games against Owasso, Union and Muskogee.

2. Putnam City North (20-1); last week (2)

The Panthers avenged their only loss to Putnam City West. They play Enid and a solid Choctaw team this week.

3. Dale (25-0); last week (3)

The Pirates delivered an impressive win by beating Vanoss by 40 points last week.

4. Edmond North (18-2); last week (4)

The Huskies beat three opponents last week by no less than 19 points.

5. Tulsa Memorial (18-3); last week (6)

The Chargers have won seven in a row after wins over crosstown schools Webster and McLain.

6. Midwest City Carl Albert (17-4); last week (5)

The Titans lost a close game to El Reno, but can make up ground in the polls this week against Shawnee and Del City.

7. Weatherford (22-2); last week (8)

Unfortunately, the Eagles were in the news more for the score of their win against Anadarko rather than the fact that they beat a tough Tuttle squad and that they’re still one of the best teams in the state.

8. Kingfisher (19-3); last week (9)

The Yellowjackets got an impressive blowout win against El Reno on Monday.

9. Del City (13-6); last week (10)

After beating Shawnee, Piedmont and Noble, the Eagles face Guthrie before finishing the regular season with a massive clash with rival Carl Albert.

10. Westmoore (15-5); last week (7)

The Jaguars lost twice in the past week (to Norman and Moore). They play Southmoore and Norman North this week.

11. Fort Cobb-Broxton (23-1); last week (11)

Coach Scott Hines’ Mustangs beat Maysville in districts by an absurd score of 97-31. Fort Cobb now faces Alex in regionals.

12. Caddo (18-2); last week (13)

The Bruins beat Ringling by 32 in the district playoffs, and will play Central High in regionals this week.

13. Roff (22-5); last week (14)

Roff decimated the competition at districts and plays Pittsburg in regionals.

14. OKC Crossings Christian (18-2); last week (12)

The Knights fought for an overtime win against OKC Heritage Hall; they now have to go on the road to Tecumseh for district playoffs.

15. Oklahoma Christian School (20-2); last week (15)

The Saints beat then-ranked OKC Millwood by four before wins against Jones and Norman Community Christian; They have Bethany and district playoffs against OKC Western Heights this week.

16. OKC Douglass (19-1); last week (16)

Douglass is currently on a 17-game win streak after two wins against OKC Star Spencer in a week, plus a two-point win against a good Northwest Classen team.

17. Tulsa Edison (16-4); last week (20)

Convincing wins against Tulsa Hale and Tulsa Central move Edison up three spots. It doesn’t get much easier for the Eagles, with games against Tulsa Memorial and Jenks.

18. Tulsa Hale (17-4); last week (17)

Hale lost to rival Edison on Friday. The Rangers have a chance to get back in the win column at Tulsa Rogers this coming Friday.

19. Tulsa Holland Hall (17-3); last week (18)

The Dutch lost a nail-biter to Tulsa Metro Christian before beating Owasso Rejoice Christian.

20. Hennessey (19-3); last week (NR)

Hennessey jumps into the rankings after wins against Fairview, Blackwell and Luther; the Eagles will host Watonga in district play.

21. Norman (13-7); last week (19)

The Tigers lost to Norman North but they then beat Westmoore, allowing them to move up.

22. Tulsa Metro Christian (20-2); last week (24)

Metro moves up two spots after beating Holland Hall and Cascia Hall. The Patriots host Kipp Tulsa in districts.

23. Vanoss (20-3); last week (22)

They lost to Dale 77-37, but the Wolves did beat Stonewall in their district tournament. Vanoss hosts Wetumka in a regional tournament this week.

24. Bixby (17-4); last week (NR)

Bixby jumps into the rankings after beating Sand Springs by almost 40, as well as beating Owasso. The Spartans have tricky contests at Sapulpa and Tulsa Booker T. Washington this week.

25. OKC Southeast (12-6); last week (NR)

The Spartans jump into the rankings after a convincing win against Lawton.
