Top 25 Oklahoma high school football rankings (10/4/2023)
The SBLive Oklahoma football Top 25 for Week 6 is out and there are some big changes with three teams taking big drops, including one that is often high in the rankings, and at times, would be at the top.
Jenks, Collinsville and Mustang take big drops in the new list, while Cushing is back for the first time since Week 1.
The Trojans started the season at No. 3, dropped to No. 4 after an 0-2 start, then came back to No. 3 after beating rival Tulsa Union in Week 2. But a loss to an unranked Westmoore team drops Jenks to 12th.
Collinsville came up short in a surprise loss at Tulsa Bishop Kelley, causing the Cardinals to slide from 13th to No. 20, and Owasso’s 54-3 domination of Mustang drops the Broncos from 15th to 23rd. Piedmont dropped out following its loss to Guthrie.
Bixby and Midwest City Carl Albert maintain the top two spots, while most everyone else either moved one or two spots. Only one other team, Tuttle, stayed in the same spot at 24th.
Here are this week's SBLive Oklahoma Top 25 football rankings.
1. Bixby (5-0 overall, 2-0 in District 6AI-1)
Previous Game: Beat Southmoore. 66-0, Thursday
Ranking Last Week: No. 1
The Spartans compiled over 60 points for the fourth straight game with Southmoore being the latest casualty.
Eight different players scored for Bixby, with Garret Vaughn getting the most with two, both coming on pass receptions of 4 from Clay Peters and 31 from Caron Kirby. Cooper Parker scored the first TD on a 4-yard run.
All those scores accounted for Bixby’s first three TDs, along with successful two-point conversions.
Braeden Presley, the younger brother of former Spartan standouts Brennan and Braylin Presley, now at Oklahoma State and Tulsa, respectively, returned a punt 43 yards for a TD before the first quarter ended, making the score 31-0.

2. Midwest City Carl Albert (6-0, 2-0 in District 5A-2)
Previous Game: Beat Shawnee, 70-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 2
The Titans proved that Shawnee was no match for them, as they scored at will while yielding no points.

3. Tulsa Union (4-1, 2-0 in District 6AI-2)
Previous Game: Beat Yukon, 63-7
Ranking Last Week: No. 3
Shaker Reisig threw a season-high 412 yards on 29-of-33 attempts and four TDs in the Redhawks rout of the Millers.
Jordan Schelling scored two TDs rushing with 70 yards on the ground and another 70 yards in receiving.
Next for Union is a Norman team that has won its last two games after an 0-3 start.

4. Wagoner (5-0, 2-0 in District 4A-3)
Previous Game: Beat Oologah, 24-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 5
Kale Charboneau threw for 334 yards and one TD on 25-of-33 passes in the Bulldogs’ shutout win over the Mustangs. He also enforced nine tackles on defense.
The Bulldogs now have a rematch with the team they beat in last year’s Class 4A state title game. Wagoner lost the regular season matchup to Cushing, 42-0, last October in the Tigers’ den, but when the two teams met for the championship two months later in Edmond, it was the Bulldogs who came out on top, 24-21, after kicking a last-second field goal.

5. Washington (5-0, 2-0 in District 2A-3)
Previous Game: Beat Community Christian, 51-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 6
The Warriors stayed on top of their game and on top in Class 2A with a domination of Community Christian. They will face challenges in weeks 8 and 9 against Purcell and Lindsay, respectively.

6. Guthrie (5-0, 1-0 in District 5A-2)
Previous Game: Beat Piedmont, 35-0
Ranking Last Week: 7
Another shutout for the Blue Jays can be counted toward their record after scoring five TDs and yielding no points against a Piedmont squad that had also been winning with big numbers.
Guthrie has now outscored its opponents, 229-3.
A big game is on the slate this week as the Blue Jays travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Fightin’ Irish of McGuinness.

7. OKC Heritage Hall (5-0, 2-0 in District 3A-2)
Previous Game: Beat Pauls Valley, 42-7, Thursday
Ranking Last Week: No. 8
The Chargers went up 35-0 in the first half. They scored their first TD on a trick play that involved Jerrod Williams throwing to Rashaud Smith.
Carter Counts intercepted a pass in the end zone that would stop a Pauls Valley threat, and OU commit/quarterback Andy Bass scrambled for a long TD run on a keeper.

8. Choctaw (3-0, 2-0 in District 6AII-2)
Previous Game: Beat OKC Capitol Hill, 71-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 9
The Yellowjackets drove in cruise control with more than 70 points in their romp over Capitol Hill.

9. Muskogee (4-1, 2-0 in District 6AII)
Previous Game: Beat Putnam City West, 69-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 10
Jamarian Ficklin completed 15-of-18 passes for 375 yards and eight TDs to seven different receivers as Roughers rocked the Patriots.
Next Game: vs. OKC U.S. Grant (2-3, 0-2), Friday
10. Poteau (5-0, 2-0 in District 4A-4)
Previous Game: Beat Madill, 48-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 11
The Pirates keep rolling after a shutout of the Wildcats. They are now tied with Ada, ranked 21st, for first place in their district

11. Tulsa Lincoln Christian (4-0, 1-0 in District 3A-3)
Previous Game: Idle
Ranking Last Week: No. 12
Lincoln Christian got the week off. Now it faces a big battle for first place at Checotah, with the Wildcats sitting in first place within their district. The Bulldogs are seeking to change that.

12. Jenks (2-3, 1-1 in District 6AI-1)
Previous Game: Lost to Westmoore, 16-12
Ranking Last Week: No. 3
The Trojans took a huge tumble down by nine spots after an unexpected loss to Westmoore. They never had the lead in what was a defensive battle.
Quarterback Owen Jones moved Jenks for a potential game-winning drive. With fourth-and-goal from the Jaguar 17-yard line, Jones threw a pass intended for Corey Freeman in front of the end zone, where Westmoore defensive back Michael “M.J.” Graham Jr. rose out in front to make an interception.
Graham, who also plays quarterback, is committed to the University of Houston.
Jenks now must travel Thursday to play Norman North, whom it lost to, 31-21, at home last year and ended in a three-way tie with the Timberwolves and Bixby for the District 6AI-1 title.
The Timberwolves are also coming off a 28-14 win at Broken Arrow.

13. OKC Millwood (4-1, 2-0 in District 2A-1)
Previous Game: Beat Chisholm, 34-16
Ranking Last Week: No. 14
The Falcons intercepted five passes in the victory over the Longhorns. The first was made by edge rusher Micho Lavine, a three-star recruit committed to North Texas.
Lemar Davis ran for two TDs, covering 73 and 52 yards.
Through five games, Millwood had produced more than 1,200 yards of offense.

14. Owasso (3-2, 1-1 in District 6AI-2)
Previous Game: Beat Mustang, 54-3
Ranking Last Week: No. 16
Knox Dyson threw four TDs and 233 yards on 19-of-26 attempts in the Rams’ beatdown of Mustang in a key district showdown.
The blocking of a solid offensive line wore down the Broncos and enabled Owasso to have a successful night on offense. Dyson’s first TD passes were caught by tight end Mason Hendricks for 22 and 8 yards, respectively, putting the Rams up 13-3.
Dyson later opened the fourth quarter with a 70-yard bomb to Noah Hill, which made it 41-3. Meanwhile, the Owasso defense made it a rough night for Mustang quarterback Trajan Williamson.

15. Fairview (5-0, 2-0 in District A-1)
Previous Game: Beat Thomas, 56-20
Ranking Last Week: No. 17
The Yellowjackets won their 20th straight game in their rout of the Terriers. Isaiah Burris scored four TDs – one on a 4-yard run, two on pass receptions of 36 and 20 yards, and a kickoff return of 70 yards.

16. Hominy (5-0, 2-0 in A-5)
Previous Game: Beat Oklahoma Union, 49-6
Ranking Last Week: No. 18
The Bucks handled business in a manhandling of Oklahoma Union. A challenge from Morrison is next.

17. Del City (4-0, 2-0 in 5A-3)
Previous Game: Beat McAlester, 35-21
Ranking Last Week: No. 19
The Eagles passed a test in defeating last year’s runner-up in 5A. They now stand in first place tied with Coweta in their district and climb two rungs in the poll.

18. Gore (5-0, 2-0 in District A-8)
Previous Game: Beat Canadian, 58-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 20
The Pirates whipped up on Canadian. After playing Pocola, a big game against Central Sallisaw appears to be shaping up for next week.

19. Claremore (5-0, 2-0 in District 5A-4)
Previous Game: Beat Grove, 30-14
Ranking Last Week: No. 21
Micah Teel rushed for 136 yards and one TD, highlighting the Zebras’ powerful run game, wide receiver Greg Deckard caught three scoring passes from quarterback Braxton Etheridge, and the defense forced four turnovers in the win at Grove.
The victory by Claremore avenged a 63-28 loss last year to the Ridgerunners.

20. Collinsville (4-1, 1-1 in District 5A-4)
Previous Game: Lost to Tulsa Bishop Kelley, 39-28
Ranking Last Week: No. 13
The Cardinals fell behind to the Comets and could not overcome despite drawing to within a TD.
The loss drops them seven spots down in the rankings as a result.
Collinsville was down by 20 points in the third quarter and came within 27-21 in the fourth, and drove to the Kelley 28-yard line. Then quarterback Skyler Moorman was picked off by the Comets’ Jack Dionisio, who took it back for a TD with 8:44 left in the game. BK added another TD with over a minute left to clinch it.
Moorman threw two TDs and Jack Keith scored two TDs on the ground, one for 80 yards.

21. Ada (5-0, 2-0 in District 4A-4)
Previous Game: Beat Hilldale, 7-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 22
Ada won its second straight game by the same score, scoring on its first drive but struggling through the rest of the game on offense, while the defense pitched its third shutout of the year.
Next Game: at Madill (0-5, 0-2), Friday
22. Norman North (4-1, 1-1 in District 6AI-1)
Previous Game: Beat Broken Arrow, 28-14
Ranking Last Week: No. 23
The Timberwolves rebounded from getting blown out by Bixby with a solid win at Broken Arrow. Owen Eshelman threw a 16-yard TD pass to Zain Prather, then Will Lundquist scored on TD runs of 35 and 11 yards, respectively, to give Norman North a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

23. Mustang (4-1, 1-1 in District 6AI-2)
Previous Game: Lost at Owasso, 54-3
Ranking Last Week: No. 15
The Broncos fell down from 15th to 23rd in the poll after being held to a field goal in a 51-point loss to Owasso in a key district matchup on the east side of the state.
Things started off well when they got the ball first and QB Trajan Williamson moved the team to the Rams’ 11-yard line, setting up a 28-yard field goal by Aiden Jordan. Mustang was up 3-0 but would score no more points.
The Broncos look to bounce back this week.

24. Tuttle (4-1, 2-0 in District 4A-2)
Previous Game: Beat Harrah, 27-0
Ranking Last Week: No. 24
Jackson Johnson threw a TD pass to Gabe Avelar, Shaun Rounsaville ran for two scores, and Brady McAdoo ran for another to account for the Tigers’ points.
Tuttle meets Blanchard on the road for a crucial battle for first place.

25. Cushing (4-1, 2-0 in District 5A-2)
Previous Game: Beat Catoosa, 48-14
Ranking Last Week: Unranked
The Tigers of Cushing are back in the Top 25 for the first time since Week 1. They were unbeaten and No. 1 in Class 4A before losing to district foe Wagoner on a last-second field goal for the title last year.
They had beaten the same Bulldog team, 42-0, in Week 6, in the regular season, and will be seeking revenge.
