Perry fast pitch softball player Kennedy Hight voted SBLive's Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week

Hight helps set the tone for Maroons claiming first fast pitch state title

Kennedy Hight won an individual state championship early in her athletic career at Perry.

Now, Hight has helped her school claim a team title.

Hight, a senior fast pitch softball player at Perry, drove in the first run of the 3A state title game on Oct. 7 as the Maroons built an early 3-0 lead and hung on for a 3-2 win against Lone Grove for the program's first fast pitch championship in 3A.

As a sophomore, Hight won an individual state title in track, claiming first in the 400-meter run. She is also a standout basketball player at Perry, and she will continue her athletic career in that sport after committing to play basketball at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

For her efforts, Hight was voted the SBLive Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 2-8.
