Tulsa Union beats Owasso to claim top spot; then-No. 1 Edmond North loses to Moore

The madness has begun for Oklahoma high school basketball, and the playoffs have yet to commence.

This week, the Class A and B districts get started. Classes 2A, 3A and 4A will begin Friday, Feb. 16th, and Class 5A and 6A will begin Thursday, Feb. 22.

Here is this week’s SBLive Oklahoma Top 25 boys basketball rankings.

Note: Rankings and records are through Feb. 7.

1. Tulsa Union (19-2); last week (4)

Tulsa Union picked up a huge win over Owasso last Friday, when they won 53-49. Union has now won 12 games in a row and is playing the best basketball in the state.

In the Owasso game, the Redhawks held Jalen Montonati to 11 points. Dalen Fuller scored 21 points for Union. Union also beat Sand Springs by double digits and travels to Putnam City Original Friday.

2. Owasso (16-3); last week (2)

Despite losing to Tulsa Union, Owasso holds the second spot since it was a competitive ballgame. Montonati did not have his best night, but Owasso responded against Putnam City Original Tuesday when the Rams won, 67-36.

Owasso now sits in second place and needs a Union loss. The Rams will play their next game Friday at Bartlesville and Owasso beat the Bruins by 50 earlier this season.
