Riley Hammerickson wins individual title, helps St. Mary’s secure fifth consecutive team crown at Oregon 4A/3A/2A/1A girls golf championships

It was all St. Mary’s of Medford at the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A girls golf state tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at the Eagle Crest Ridge Course in Redmond.
St. Mary’s senior Riley Hammerickson took charge in the second day of the tournament to claim the individual title with a two-round score of 3-over 147, putting her three shots ahead of Valley Catholic junior Challin Kim, who was second at 150.
The Crusaders won the team title with a score of 694, giving them an eight-shot advantage over second-place Marist Catholic, which had a score of 702.
Hammerickson birdied her final two holes in Monday’s opening round, putting her in a tie with Kim at that point, each with a 1-over-par score of 73.
On Tuesday, Hammerickson stepped up with a consistent round, with two birdies and four bogeys, for a 2-over 74.
Kim carded a 5-over 77 on Tuesday, giving her the total of 150.
Dufur junior Tora Timinsky finished in third place with a two-round score of 151. Marist Catholic sophomore Esha Reddy, who had Tuesday’s best score with a 73, tied Catlin Gabel sophomore Ava Austria for fourth place, each with a two-round score of 156.
The team title was the fifth in a row for St. Mary’s, which won four consecutive crowns before the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 tournaments.
St. Mary’s junior Brigit O’Connell had a two-round score of 164, including an 80 on Tuesday, to finish in seventh place at 164. St. Mary’s sophomore Chelsea Horn had a two-round total of 180 to finish in 10th place. Also for the Crusaders, junior Lucy Maxwell had a score of 203, and freshman Cassidy Arnold carded a 236.
Valley Catholic finished in third place in the team standings with a score of 794. Marshfield was fourth at 808.
