Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Bandon girls cross country

Bandon ran to victory at the Fugate Farms Invite, held at Fugate Farms in Bandon. The Tigers took the top spot in the team standings at the event with a score of 21 points. Marshfield was second with a score of 51. Sophomore Marley Petrey helped lead Bandon to the victory, as she was the individual winner of the 5,000-meter race in a time of 20 minutes, 11.88 seconds. Her teammate, senior Analise Miller, was second with a mark of 20:26.18.

Burns volleyball

The Hilanders captured the championship at the Creswell Invitational. Burns topped Stayton 25-11, 25-21 and Horizon Christian of Tualatin 17-25, 25-10, 15-8 before defeating the host team from Creswell 27-25, 14-25, 17-15 in the championship match.

Cascade volleyball

The Cougars claimed sole possession of first place in the Oregon West Conference standings by getting a 25-17, 25-6, 25-17 sweep against Stayton in a conference showdown played at Stayton High School. With the win, Cascade improved to 3-0 in conference matches, and to 11-3 on the season at that point. Senior libero Jadyn Daviscourt helped the Cougars get the win with 25 digs and 12 assists.

Central Catholic volleyball

The Rams went undefeated in their four matches at the Westview tournament, getting 2-0 wins over Putnam, Redmond and Ida B. Wells, and a 2-1 victory against McNary. Sophomore Grady Heinle, who recently moved from defensive specialist to outside hitter for Central Catholic, had 28 kills, 12 digs and 10 aces at the tourney.

Century girls soccer

The Jaguars tuned up for the start of Pacific Conference play by scoring a 4-0 victory at Aloha, and then besting Gresham 5-0 at home in nonleague play. Sophomore Sophie Mapes filled in for an injured teammate at center back in the two games, and was a key for Century in getting the two shutout wins.

Crater boys cross country

The Comets soared to victory at the 10th annual Max King Invitational, held at Jackson County Expo in Central Point. Crater took the top spot in the 11-team event with an impressive score of 20 points. North Medford was second at 66. Crater junior Tayvon Kitchen was the individual winner of the 5,000-meter race in a time of 15 minutes, 10.77 seconds.

Dayton football

The Pirates moved to 3-0 in Class 3A Special District 2 play, and to 5-0 on the season, by posting a 52-26 win against Salem Academy in a district game played at Dayton High School. Senior running back Zach Smith led the Dayton offensive attack in the win, rushing for 324 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries. For the defense, senior Morgan Gallagher had 10 total tackles, including two sacks.

Eagle Point volleyball

The Eagles rallied to score a 28-30, 14-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-12 win over Midwestern League foe Crater in a match played at Eagle Point High School. The victory was the first for the Eagles against the Comets since 2015. Junior Addison Holcomb had 18 digs and 14 kills to help Eagle Point notch the long-awaited victory.

Jesuit girls soccer

The Crusaders moved to 9-0 on the season by rolling to an 8-0 win over Westview in a Metro League-opening match played at Jesuit High School. Jesuit has outscored its nine opponents on the season by a 52-1 margin. Sophomore Jo Frischknecht scored four goals for the Crusaders in the win over the Wildcats. Freshman Natalie Webber added three goals in the victory.

Lakeridge girls cross country

The Pacers triumphed at the Three Rivers League/Pacific Conference crossover meet, held at Clackamas Community College. Lakeridge claimed the top spot at the meet with a team score of 32 points. Lake Oswego was second with a score of 80. The Pacers also boasted the individual winner of the meet in junior Chloe Huyler, who ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 51.12 seconds.

Lakeridge girls water polo

The Pacers defeated rival Lake Oswego 19-7 in a Three Rivers League game played at the Lake Oswego School District pool to improve to 13-0 on the season to that point. Lakeridge junior Adrienne Medak was the leading scorer in the contest with eight goals.

Marist Catholic girls soccer

The Spartans, who hold the No. 1 spot in the Class 4A rankings, bested Junction City and Marshfield by identical 8-0 scores to improve to 9-0 on the season. The two victories also give Marist Catholic a 25-match winning streak, going back to the 2022 season. The Spartans are also recently ranked at the No. 13 spot in the United Soccer Coaches Western Regional (VI) high school rankings.

The Pirates triumphed at the Fugate Farms Invite, held at Fugate Farms in Bandon. Marshfield won the event with a score of 39 points. Douglas was second with a score of 61. Junior Jaxson Stovall helped lead the Pirates to the victory, as he was the individual winner of the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 11.59 seconds.

Newberg boys soccer

The Tigers tuned up for Pacific Conference play by getting a 5-2 home win over Nelson and a 3-2 road victory against Oregon City in nonleague play. Junior midfielder Henry Murray had a total of five goals and an assist in the two victories.

North Eugene girls soccer

The Highlanders rallied from a 1-0 deficit to get a 2-1 home win over David Douglas in a nonleague match, giving the Scots their first loss of the season. Senior forward Kendal Priaulx scored both goals for North Eugene, which improved to 5-2 with the victory.

Oregon City football

The Pioneers came back from a 17-0 halftime deficit to get a 28-24 at Tigard in a Three Rivers League opener, where both teams entered with perfect 4-0 records. Junior quarterback Benjamin Schneider threw three second-half touchdown passes for Oregon City, including the game-winner to Easton Hunt.

Ridgeview volleyball

The Ravens posted a 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13 win over Bend in an Intermountain Conference match played at Ridgeview High School, ending the Lava Bears’ 32-match conference winning streak.

Riverside girls soccer

The Pirates rallied to score a 3-2 home win over Four Rivers in a Class 3A/2A/1A Special District 5 showdown. With the win, Riverside improved to 6-0-1 in district play, and to 6-1-1 on the season. It was the first loss of the season for Four Rivers, which moved to 6-1. Senior midfielder Julie Magana scored two goals for the Pirates, including the game-winner, in the contest.

Scio football

The Loggers moved to 5-0 on the season by rolling past Taft for a 62-20 victory in a Class 3A Special District 2 game played at Scio High School. Senior Bryan Parazoo helped lead Scio to the victory, rushing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while also passing for 108 yards and another score.

Sherwood boys cross country

The Bowmen ran to victory at the Three Rivers League/Pacific Conference crossover meet, held at Clackamas Community College. Sherwood took first place with a team score of 58 points. Tigard finished in second place with a score of 93. Junior Dylan Weniger helped the Bowmen secure the win, as he was the individual runner-up in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 36.50 seconds.

South Medford boys soccer

The Panthers posted a 4-1 home win over Willamette, which entered the contest as the No. 1 team in the Class 6A coaches poll, in a Southwest Conference match. Senior Felix Valenzuela, junior Alexis Reyes, senior Kyle Denn and sophomore Omar Serrano all scored for South Medford in the victory, which upped the Panthers’ Southwest Conference record to 4-0-1 (6-0-1) at that point.

Weston-McEwen football

The TigerScots rolled to a 49-0 home win over Grant Union in a Class 2A Special District 2 opener, giving the team an overall record of 4-0. Junior quarterback Easton Berry helped lead the way for Weston-McEwen, completing 10 of 13 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 85 yards.

Westview volleyball

The Wildcats won all four of their matches at the Westview tournament, sweeping McMinnville, Hillsboro, McNary and Glencoe by 2-0 scores. Westview also got a 25-12, 25-13, 25-6 win over Beaverton in Metro League competition. The Wildcats now stand at 4-3 in Metro League play and at 12-6 for the season.
