Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Oct. 30-Nov. 5 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Barlow boys water polo

The top-seeded Bruins bested Mountainside 22-3 and then they beat Tualatin 18-6 to advance to the semifinal round of the Class 6A state tournament, which will continue Friday and Saturday at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis.

Blanchet Catholic boys soccer

The Cavaliers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score a 5-3 overtime win over Creswell in a Class 3A/2A/1A state playoff second round match at Blanchet Catholic, giving the team its first state playoff victory since 2014. Junior midfielder Keyvi Rocha-Alonso scored three goals for the Cavaliers in the win.

Crane volleyball

The Mustangs won the Class 1A state championship, besting St. Paul 25-22, 21-25, 25-12, 26-24 in the tournament title match played at Ridgeview High School. Senior outside hitter Kortney Doman led the way for Crane with 37 kills and six digs in the victory. The Mustangs finished the season with a final overall record of 33-2.

Crater boys cross country

The Comets, behind the one-two finish of juniors Tayvon Kitchen and Josiah Tostenson, turned in a dominating performance in triumphing at the Class 5A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Crater finished in first place with a team score of 37 points. Summit was second at 64. Kitchen was the individual winner of the 5,000-meter race in a time of 15 minutes, 26.2 seconds. Tostenson was second at 15:32.2.

Crescent Valley volleyball

The Raiders won the Class 5A state championship, topping Bend 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-8 in the title match held at Forest Grove High School. Junior setter Kamden Mitchell had 33 assists and 12 digs for Crescent Valley in the finals. Crescent Valley finished the season at 22-2.

Gervais football

The Cougars picked up their first state playoff victory since 1951 by besting Toledo 24-12 in a Class 2A state playoff first round game played at Gervais High School. Seniors Daniel Kuznetsov and Gotti Ramon and sophomore Johnny Mariano each had a touchdown run for the Cougars in the victory.

Franklin boys cross country

The Lightning bolted to the championship at the Class 6A state meet, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Franklin won the title with a team score of 43 points. Jesuit was second with a score of 85. Junior Zafer Courcelle helped lead the Lightning to the crown, as he finished third in the 5,000-meter event in a time of 15 minutes, 42.8 seconds.

Jesuit girls cross country

The Crusaders claimed the team title, while also having the individual winner at the Class 6A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Jesuit took first place in the team standings with a score of 32 points. Lincoln was second at 46. Crusader junior Emma Bennett ran to victory on the 5,000-meter course with her time of 18 minutes, 0.2 seconds.

The Crusaders rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tip Oregon City 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-13 in the Class 6A state tournament championship match, held at Forest Grove High School. Senior Lilly Lansing had 17 kills and eight digs in the win for Jesuit, which finished the season at 31-2.

Lakeridge girls water polo

The top-seeded Pacers posted a 17-7 win over Lincoln in a Class 6A state playoff second round contest held at the Chehalem Aquatic Center in Newberg to advance to the semifinal round of the state tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis.

Marist Catholic volleyball

The Spartans topped Marshfield 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 17-15 in a five-set thriller to win the title at the Class 4A state tournament, held at Springfield High School. Junior outside hitter Giana Elgarico had 28 kills and nine digs in the finals for Marist Catholic, which finished the season at 23-2.

Newport boys cross country

The Cubs turned in an impressive performance in triumphing at the Class 4A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Newport claimed first place at the meet with a team score of 49 points, outdistancing second-place Crook County, which had a score of 87. Junior Finn Collson helped lead the Cubs to the title, as he was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 30.6 seconds.

Oregon City volleyball

The Pioneers, with their 13-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 Class 6A state tournament semifinal win over Sprague, reached the championship match for the first time ever. Then, in the title tilt, held at Forest Grove High School, Oregon City pressed Jesuit to five sets before being edged 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-13.

Oregon Episcopal School girls cross country

The Aardvarks claimed the title at the Class 3A/2A/1A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. OES had a winning team score of 66 points, outdistancing second-place Siuslaw, which had a score of 95. Senior Morgan Matthews was the top finisher for the Aardvarks, placing fifth in the 5,000-meter event in a time of 19 minutes, 34.3 seconds.

Philomath girls cross country

The Warriors used their depth and balance to claim the championship at the Class 4A state meet, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Philomath took the top spot in the team standings with 66 points. La Grande, which had the race’s top three individual finishers, was second at 71. Junior Adele Beckstead helped lead the Warriors to the title, as she ran to ninth place in a time of 19 minutes, 59.9 seconds. She was followed by sophomore teammate Ana Candanoza, who was 10th at 20:02.9.

Portland Christian volleyball

The Royals claimed the Class 2A state championship, tipping Salem Academy 22-25, 26-24, 16-25, 25-22, 16-14 in the title match played at Ridgeview High School. Sophomore Finley Marine had 30 kills, 18 digs and two aces in the win for Portland Christian, which finished the season with a final overall record of 21-1.

Sherwood football

The Bowmen stayed perfect on the season, moving to 10-0 by scoring a 41-8 win over Oregon City in a Class 6A state playoff first round contest played at Sherwood High School. Junior running back Wilson Medina had a pair of touchdown runs and senior Evan Morris returned an interception for a score for the Bowmen in the victory.

Sisters volleyball

The Outlaws scored a 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 win over Pleasant Hill to win the championship at the Class 3A state tournament, held at Springfield High School. Senior outside hitter/middle blocker Gracie Vohs had 20 kills and 18 digs to help lead the way for Sisters in the title match. The Outlaws finished the season with a 25-2 record.

Summit girls cross country

It was close, very close, but the Storm did it again. Summit won its 15th straight state title, triumphing at the Class 5A championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. The Storm took first place at the meet with a team score of 64 points, edging second-place Crater, which scored 66. Sophomore Eva Dicharry was Summit’s top individual finisher, as she ran to seventh place with her time of 18 minutes, 50.9 seconds on the 5,000-meter course.

Tigard football

The Tigers scored a 17-0 win over previously unbeaten South Salem in a Class 6A state playoff first round game played at South Salem High School. Tigard senior receiver Roman Martin had seven catches for 205 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Union/Cove boys cross country

The Bobcats, with 44 points, edged Knappa, which had a score of 47 points, to claim the title at the Class 2A/1A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Eli Williams led the way for Union/Cove, as he was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 22.6 seconds.

Valley Catholic boys cross country

The Valiants ran to victory at the Class 3A state championships, held at Lane Community College in Eugene. Valley Catholic took first place in the team standings with a score of 63 points, putting the Valiants ahead of Oregon Episcopal School and Enterprise, who tied for second with 117 points. Senior Morgan Amano led the way for Valley Catholic, as he finished in sixth place in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 38.0 seconds.

The Valiants stayed unbeaten on the season, improving to 15-0, by scoring a 3-0 win over Banks in a Class 3A/2A/1A state playoff quarterfinal match played at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton. Senior Malia Groshong scored two goals in the victory, and senior Paulina Filip had one.

West Linn girls soccer

The Lions tipped Jesuit 1-0 (3-1 in penalty kicks) in a Class 6A state playoff quarterfinal match played at Jesuit High School. With the win, West Linn snapped Jesuit’s 35-match winning streak. West Linn junior goalkeeper Nyamma Nelson made 12 saves during regulation play and overtime, and then she converted a penalty kick during the shootout.

Westside Christian boys soccer

The Eagles soared to a 3-0 win over Blanchet Catholic in a Class 3A/2A/1A state playoff quarterfinal match played at Westside Christian High School to advance to the semifinal round of the playoffs for the first time in school history. Senior Brady Housley, sophomore Alexis Gonzalez and Adrian Vidican had the goals for the Eagles.
