Sometimes a prospect's star rating doesn't match his offer sheet.

That's the case for Bridgeland High School (Texas) tight end Reid Mikeska.

A three-star prospect and the nation's No. 26 tight end in the composite rankings, the Texas product has more than 45 offers and said he is strongly considering Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma and Oregon.

This weekend, the 6-foot-6, 233-pound pass-catcher, who was previously committed to Clemson, took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma and was impressed.

“It was amazing," he said. "What stood out most were the coaches there. Everyone has great facilities, but it was about the people in the building. Coach (Brent) Venables, coach (Joe Jon) Finley, coach (Jeff) Lebby and coach (Jon) Cooper... I spent literally the whole day with them.”

Next up for Mikeska is a trip to Miami this weekend, where he plans to connect with Mario Cristobal in person.

“He’s definitely involved," the Texas tight end said. "We just FaceTime’d earlier (Tuesday). It’s a great tight end university. They’ve had a tight end in the draft almost every year. I’m really excited to get up there for the first time and, if it goes well, I’ll definitely be up for an official.”

So far, Mikeska has set official visits to Oklahoma (June 3) and Florida (June 17), but said he will likely take a Miami official visit "sometime in between those two."

Two others school of interest are Alabama, who he said he hopes to visit soon, and Oregon, which recently extended a scholarship offer.

Still unsure if he will visit Eugene, Mikeska was quick to praise Oregon's offensive philosophy and said he is interested in learning more about the program.

“Right now, I’m talking to coach (Drew) Mehringer," he said. " I’ve been in main contact with him. I’m curious to see how the program runs and I like the way they use their tight ends."

No matter who gets the coveted jumbo pass-catcher, his plan is to enroll early.

Mikeska said he will graduate in December and enroll at his chosen school shortly thereafter.

And as for a decision date?

“As of right now, I’d like to commit before my senior season," he said. "But there’s no rush. I’m just thinking I might be ready by then."
