T.A. Cunningham, 5-star defensive lineman, 'loved' Texas A&M visit; Tennessee trip up next

Los Alamitos High School (California) junior T.A. Cunningham is a five-star prospect,  the nation's No. 21 overall recruit and the No. 2 defensive lineman. 

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound athlete has almost 60 scholarship offers to date and is one of the most heavily-recruited players in America, regardless of age.

Over the weekend, Cunningham took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M and came away impressed.

"Texas A&M had a lot of tradition and a really strong group of alumni (and) fanbase," he said. "The team is really young and rotates a lot of guys in, especially on the defensive line."

He said he saw enough that the Aggies are likely to get a return visit.

"I plan to get back up there sooner than later," Cunningham said. "Definitely a school I would consider for one of my officials."

Next up for the Los Alamitos star is a visit to Tennessee on November 12.

"I’m really glad to see the decision of hiring coach (Josh) Heupel pay off," Cunningham said. "I feel like he’s an amazing coach and a good person. The same goes for coach (Rodney) Garner. He’s one the most experienced coaches in the game right now." 

It's still early in Cunningham's recruitment, but it's clear Texas A&M made an impression this weekend.

Tennessee will get the next opportunity.
