Brandon Baker, nation's No. 1 offensive tackle, visiting Oregon Ducks this weekend

Oregon is set to host a massive recruiting weekend for the spring game

The Oregon Ducks spring game kicks off April 29 and is expected to be the backdrop for one of the most celebrated recruiting weekends in program history.

On Sunday, Dan Lanning's program added another major recruit onto the visitor list.

Mater Dei (California) five-star offensive lineman Brandon Baker, the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 23 overall prospect, is making a return trip to Eugene for the spring game:

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman has made several trips to Eugene in recent years and his interest has remained high in the transitions from head coach Mario Cristobal to Dan Lanning and offensive line coach Adrian Klemm to A'lique Terry.

Baker also has significant ties to Oregon.

His older brother, Gary Baker, played defensive line for the Ducks from 2015-2019 and has high praise for his experience in college.

While Baker has kept his recruitment close to the vest in terms of naming an outright leader, the Ducks are viewed as one of the biggest players in his recruitment. They are, perhaps, the quiet favorite, although the Mater Dei star has taken visits to Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and USC in recent months.

No doubt, this weekend's visit is yet another positive step - and sign - for Oregon.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Baker, in part, as a prospect:

"Plays mad and it shows in the run game. Excellent drive blocker who looks to finish blocks to the ground. Displays impressive lateral quickness and range when required to pull or reach targets at the second level. ...Play strength is good and combines with size to often overwhelm smaller, overmatched defenders. ...Pass-pro reps are promisingly natural and effective. Quite light-footed and body-controlled in pass pro. Hand placement also shows encouraging consistency.... Run-game hand placement consistency and body control when engaged can improve. Overpowers defenders with regularity, but punch power can more consistently manifest."
