Michael Van Buren, nation's No. 3 uncommitted quarterback, discusses Maryland, Penn State, Oregon as decision nears

St. Frances Academy (Maryland) four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren is set to make a decision soon

This weekend's Elite 11 Eugene regional camp at Sheldon High School (Oregon) showcased some of the top quarterbacks from around the West region.

Making the trip all the way from Maryland was St. Frances Academy signal-caller Michael Van Buren, who also used the weekend to check out the Oregon Ducks spring game.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound passer didn't leave the event empty-handed, winning the accuracy event and looking like the camp's No. 2 quarterback, behind only Pinnacle (Arizona) five-star prospect Dylan Raiola.

Following the day's activities, Van Buren joined SBLive Sports to discuss his final three - Maryland, Oregon and Penn State - how his latest Oregon visit went and a timeline for making his college decision.

The East Coast signal-caller is rated the nation's No. 18 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback by ESPN, a four-star recruit by On3 (No. 289 overall, No. 17 quarterback) and Rivals (No. 59 overall, No. 2 quarterback) and a three-star prospect by 247Sports (No. 23 quarterback)

Those rankings average out to a four-star ranking and the nation's No. 11 quarterback

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Van Buren as a prospect:

".... Good speed and can make yards with feet but best when standing in pocket and throwing. Plus arm strength with good release point to maximize frame. Gets ball out quickly. Excellent temperament for quarterback. Does not get rattled often and showed ability to compete on high level and in adverse conditions. Studies film and understands offense well. Strong leader. Throws accurate ball and puts it in spots only receiver can get it. Has arm strength to fit ball in tight windows and touch to get over defender on corner posts. Slides well in pocket and feels pressure. Often shows compact delivery with quick release but sometimes will drop elbow and drag ball through. ...Can make off-platform throws with accuracy. Throws nice deep ball. Can throw on the run with accuracy. ...Sometimes will stare down receivers, particularly when waiting for routes to develop over the middle. ...Multi-year starter at Top 20 program. Mid to late round NFL draft potential."
