Ron Holland signs with NBA G League Ignite, will bypass college

Holland, the SBLive Boys Basketball National Player of the Year, is going pro

Ron Holland, the last remaining uncommitted class of 2023 boys basketball prospect, has finally made a decision.

The five-star power forward from Duncanville High School in Texas is expected to play for the NBA G-League Ignite in 2023-24, according to multiple media reports. Holland visited the Ignite in Las Vegas last week.

The NBA G League Ignite is an alternative to college basketball, and the NCAA altogether, which allows top high school basketball recruits to become professional basketball players and play in the NBA's development league before entering the NBA draft.

Holland's decision comes more than a month after announcing his decommitment from the Texas Longhorns and a week after being granted a release from his National Letter of Intent.

The 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward committed to the Longhorns before head coach Chris Beard's dismissal following an alleged domestic violence incident.

Holland was in favor of Texas' hiring of new head coach Rodney Terry to replace Beard as he took to social media to reaffirm the fanbase of his commitment. Holland chose the Longhorns over Arkansas and UCLA. He also held offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Oregon and many others.

However, things have changed for the McDonald's All-American and SBLive Boys Basketball National Player of the Year
