Caden Butler, unrated 2025 wide receiver, sees stock skyrocket after back-to-back camp MVP showings

What a difference a weekend makes! 

Olathe North (Kanas) wide receiver Caden Butler is an unrated prospect in the class of 2025.

But the 6-foot, 175-pound changed his recruitment with a massive performance over the weekend, earning "Wide Receiver MVP" at both the Northwest Showcase and AveryStrong Showcase in the Pacific Northwest. 

Butler entered the week with an early offer from the Oregon State Beavers, and left it with additional scholarships from Nevada, Oregon, Washington and UConn.

The Ducks and Huskies were so impressed with Butler, in fact, that they offered him on the spot during Saturday's Northwest Showcase at Western Oregon University.

His trip to the region also provided Butler with a chance to check out several college campuses, including all three of his recent Pac-12 offers.

First up was Oregon State, which offered in early May. 

"My visit was super good," he said. "It felt like you could actually tell that they wanted me and cared more about the person than just the athlete. Also, you could tell that the relationship between the players and coaches is great because every time a player would walk past he would always say what’s up to the coach." 

Butler also stopped by Oregon, although none of the coaches were available on campus.

Adding to his interest in the Ducks is his previous development work with former Oregon star Samie Parker. 

"I actually stopped by Oregon the day before but it was more like a tour with this lady who was an assistant because none of the coaches were on campus," he said. "But it definitely meant a lot (to get the offer). I’ve always been super interested in Oregon. One of my old coaches [Parker], who I haven’t got to work with in a while because he’s a college coach now, went there. So, I’ve kind of always wanted to follow in his footsteps a little."

While at the AveryStrong event, Butler also got a closer look at Washington. 

"Washington really meant a lot," he said. "I love that staff and coach (JaMarcus) Shephard is a great person and an amazing coach. The visit was great, too. The campus was amazing and the facilities were top-tier. And, again, the staff was super cool and you can just tell why they did so good last year." 

Butler has quickly established himself as one of the top prospects in Kansas and has generated major Pac-12 recruiting buzz.

The Big 12 and Big Ten could soon follow, and his recruitment could turn into a national battle.
