Kristopher Jones, nation's No. 9 linebacker, on recruitment: 'Georgia is number 1,' but others still looming

Fairfax (Virginia) four-star prospect Kristopher Jones, the nation's No. 9 linebacker, is planning a summer decision and his three official visits are complete.

"I plan on committing sometime in August," he said. "I just did my last official visit, which was to Georgia last weekend, and now I’m just resting waiting to make my decision."

Previously, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound 'back took official visits to Florida (June 2) and Michigan State (June 11), but one program stands out as his decision nears. 

"Georgia is number one," Jones said. "There still other schools that I like, but Georgia is winning right now." 

He made sure to indicate that both Florida and Michigan State are still within striking distance, but it's a good sign for Georgia.

Adding to their chances? Jones is back on the Athens campus again this week for 7-on-7 action. 

"I really like Georgia," he said. "The development I (could) get from coach (Glenn) Schumann is like no other, especially as a inside linebacker." 

Currently, Georgia's 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 1 nationally and consists of 19 pledges, highlighted by Dylan Raiola, the nation's No. overall prospect who announced plans to transfer from Pinnacle (Arizona) to Buford (Georgia) for his senior campaign Wednesday. 

At linebacker, the Bulldogs boast Chilton County (Alabama) five-star athlete Demarcus Riddick, who projects as a versatile weakside linebacker at the collegiate level.

Jones would certainly be a logical and valued addition to the class.
