Michigan commit Mantrez Walker visiting Deion Sanders, Colorado: 'I believe'

Buford (Georgia) four-star linebacker Mantrez Walker is eager to check out Colorado later this month

The Colorado Buffaloes have quickly become must-watch college football under new head coach Deion Sanders.

And that rise in profile has led to increased interest from top recruits - even those who are committed to traditional powerhouses.

Buford (Georgia) four-star linebacker Mantrez Walker, a class of 2025 Michigan Wolverines pledge, has scheduled a visit to Colorado for the September 30 contest against the USC Trojans.

His reasoning? The same reason everyone is tuning in on gamedays.

A Sanders-led Colorado program is intriguing.

"They're hot," Walker said. "I love Deion’s approach to the game and his plan. I believe! They need help at the linebacker position and their coaches have emphasized that I’m their guy. So I want to see it in person and see what they have to offer."

First up, however, is Walker's visit to Tennessee this weekend to check out the Vols.

"I think Tennessee is a great school with a great winning tradition," he said. "I'm looking forward to the gameday experience and meeting all the coaches that have been in close contact with me. They’ve showed lots of love."

Colorado's current 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 77 nationally and consists of just seven pledges.

The headliner, so far, is unsurprisingly a defensive back - Calabasas (California) four-star cornerback Aaron Butler, the nation's No. 5 athlete

He could soon be joined by several other bluechippers if Sanders' squad can keep it rolling.
