Ryan Williams, Alabama 5-star WR commit, planning Texas trip after Longhorns win during Bama visit: Report

Saraland (Alabama) five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams visited Alabama for its game against Texas

Well, that may have backfired.

The No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide hosted a key collection of top recruits this weekend for their highly-anticipated showdown against No. 11 Texas.

But it didn't go as planned.

Not only did the Longhorns pick up a 34-24 victory over Nick Saban's squad, but the performance also caught the eye of some recruits.

According to 247Sports' Hank South, Alabama pledge and Saraland (Alabama) five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams is now planning to visit Texas.

He is the nation's No. 1 wide receiver and No. 3 overall prospect in the class of 2025.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound pass-catcher finished his sophomore campaign with 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns receiving with an additional 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, becoming the first sophomore ever to win Alabama's "Mr. Football" award.

“He has the potential to be the best wide receiver ever to come out of Mobile or Baldwin County,” Theodore coach Eric Collier said of Williams. “I coached against Julio (Jones), and he was big and strong, but this kid is so dynamic. Honestly, the sky is the limit.”

No one knows that better than Saraland four-star quarterback KJ Lacey, the nation's No. 3 signal-caller and the lone pledge in Texas' 2025 class so far.

Lacey hasn't been shy about trying to get his go-to target to join him at Texas, and it appears the Longhorns will have a chance to impress Williams on campus soon.
