Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State commit and nation's No. 1 recruit, visiting Buckeyes this weekend

Consensus five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is visiting Columbus this weekend

Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the newly-minted "No. 1 player in the country," has been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes for nearly a year.

Throughout that time, however, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound pass-catcher has visited several other programs and hinted at the possibility of a flip.

Still, Smith has remained committed to Ohio State.

This weekend should provide some relief to worried Buckeyes fans, as the Florida product announced on social media that he will be back in Columbus this weekend for yet another visit:

For more than a year Buford (Georgia) quarterback Dylan Raiola, a Georgia Bulldogs pledge, had a stranglehold on the No. 1 spot in the class of 2024 rankings.

But that changed recently on 247Sports.

"The conversation surrounding the No. 1 position in the Top247 and who should be out in front is one that has been ongoing for well over now. Cases have been made for a variety of different prospects. But after much debate, the scouting department at 247Sports has come to the consensus that Smith is the safest bet of the bunch to eventually be selected as one of the top picks in the NFL Draft."

"In the 14-year history of the Top247, 247Sports has never had a true wide receiver prospect finish No. 1 in its rankings (Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter was No. 1 in 2022), but Smith isn’t like any other pass-catcher we've scouted in recent years."

Can Ohio State hold on to the generational talent?

This weekend should help nudge things in the right direction.
