Prediction: Ohio State Buckeyes set to land 5-star football prospect

North Shore (Texas) five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez will announce his commitment January 6

The finalists and the date are set.

North Shore (Texas) five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez will announce his commitment January 6 on national television at the All-American Bowl on NBC.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back is down to Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M.

But one team stands out above the rest.

Prediction: Devin Sanchez to Ohio State

Even before setting a formal commitment date, Sanchez began to feel like an Ohio State lock.

The nation's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in 2025 has visited Columbus multiple times and has always come away with high praise for the Buckeyes.

“They make it feel like home,” he told On3. “They want another tall corner like myself, they want me to play as a freshman … When I was down there, they showed me it feels like home, they show me their defensive playbook, and when I was down there in the summer, they were showing me in the meeting rooms with the defense, looking at the plays with the defense, and I’m seeing what they’re seeing.”

While Alabama and Texas A&M are clearly notable programs, Ohio State is the clear-cut favorite.

The recruiting industry agrees.

100 percent of Sanchez's predictions on 247Sports favor the Buckeyes, while On3 gives Ohio State a 97.6 percent chance of securing the Texas product's commitment.

There's still roughly two months until Sanchez announces his decision publicly, but all signs point to a big win for Ryan Day's program.
