Aidan Chiles on Michigan State visit: 'I hope it's everything I want'

As soon as former Oregon State Beavers head coach Jonathan Smith accepted the same position with the Michigan State Spartans, "Aidan Chiles Watch" began.

Would he stay at Oregon State? Follow Smith to East Lansing? Or start anew and look elsewhere? 

While there's still no answer, it does seem as though a Smith-Chiles connection - with offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren - could continue at Michigan State.

This weekend, Chiles and his parents will take a visit to East Lansing to see what Smith's new campus has to offer.

For the former All-American Bowl quarterback, he's got sky-high expectations.

"I hope it’s everything I want," Chiles said. "My relationship with both coaches play a big role and also already knowing the offense is big for me." 

Perhaps equally telling, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal-caller indicated he doesn't have plans to check out anyone else at this point.

"I don’t know about any other visits yet," Chiles said. "Taking it one day at a time."

Chiles has been Smith's guy since Day One.

During the 2023 recruiting cycle, Oregon State landed on its quarterback of the future early, securing the fast-rising Downey (California) signal-caller in June.

During a stellar summer circuit and senior season, Chiles climbed to the nation's No. 58 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback in his class.

As a freshman at Oregon State, he primarily spelled D.J. Uiagalelei for the third series of Oregon State games, going 24-of-35 (68.6 percent) for 309 yards and four touchdowns passing with an additional 79 yards and three scores on the ground.

The skyrocketing nature of Chiles' status led to 247Sports national expert Brandon Huffman projecting him as a future NFL first-round draft pick, comparing him to "the C.J. Stroud of his recruiting class." 

Could his next stop to East Lansing become permanent?
