Oregon's Dan Lanning: 'If you're scared your coach is leaving then come play for us'

Oregon Ducks football coach Dan Lanning turns his announcement into a recruiting pitch

ABR - Always Be Recruiting.

Amid rumors that Oregon Ducks football coach Dan Lanning was the leading candidate to replace Nick Saban as the next head coach at Alabama, the Ducks coach cleared the air.

On Thursday, Lanning posted a video announcing his intentions to stay in Eugene.

He also had a message for potential transfer portal additions and traditional recruits.

"If you're scared your coach is leaving... then come play for us," read the script in Lanning's social media video.

Oregon is coming off a Fiesta Bowl victory and recently signed the best recruiting class in program history, rated as highly as No. 3 nationally.

Lanning and his staff have also built an impression collection of transfer portal talent, led by Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel, UCLA quarterback Dante Moore and Kansas State safety Kobe Savage.

With a preseason top-5 ranking likely, Oregon is well-position to make next year's 12-team playoff.

So, rumors that Lanning was a top candidate made for a stressful day for Duck fans.

Clearly, he has put those fears to rest.
