Oregon Ducks recruiting class sits at No. 3 nationally after updated rankings: Report
On Monday, On3 released its final rankings for football prospects in the class of 2024 - with 13 recruits receiving a bump to five-star status.
The ratings shake-up also led to some small changes to the overall team rankings.
For the Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning, not much changed.
Oregon's 2024 class is the highest-rated in school history and comes it at No. 3 nationally, bolstered by an elite recruiting haul on the defensive side of the ball.
Here's what On3 had to say about Oregon's class:
"October was a huge month for the Ducks, landing two of their highest-ranked recruits of the 2024 cycle in Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic four-star EDGE Elijah Rushing and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland. Oregon also flipped Saint Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan away from Ohio State on National Signing Day.
Forney (Texas) four-star safety Aaron Flowers and Baltimore St. Frances Academy four-star cornerback Ify Obidegwu round out the top 100. The Ducks also landed the No. 2 JUCO prospect in this year’s class — College of San Mateo cornerback Sione Laulea."
While some have speculated that the Ducks completed their class on the second day of the early signing period with the late addition of bluechip defensive tackle Jericho Johnson, out of Armijo (California), more help could be on the way.
Oregon is in a tight battle with the Michigan Wolverines for Burley (Idaho) five-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, a standout at the All-American Bowl.
Bair, one of the nation's fastest sprinters, is expected to take a two-year LDS mission and has previously indicated that program stability is a major factor in his decision.
With Jim Harbaugh departing for an NFL head coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers, there is optimism among Duck fans that Bair could, indeed, be headed to Eugene.
Still, it's a tight race.
Either way, Oregon has an historic recruiting class signed, sealed and delivered - a group that is good for No. 3 nationally (behind only Georgia and Alabama).
