Shaun Scott, 2026 Mater Dei national recruit, previews Oregon Ducks visit

2026 Mater Dei edge-rusher/linebacker Shaun Scott is one of the nation's top defensive recruits in his class

It's early in the recruiting process for class of 2026 recruits.

But that hasn't stopped Mater Dei (California) edge-rusher/linebacker Shaun Scott from being a hot commodity.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound defender is rated the nation's No. 46 overall prospect and has already accumulated double-digit offers, highlighted by Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, Washington and others.

Over the weekend, Scott will be making a return trip to Eugene to check out the Oregon Ducks, another program that has been recruiting him.

"My thoughts heading to Oregon is to have a great time and build a relationship with the staff," he said.

Currently, two things stand out about the Ducks.

One being the pipeline Oregon has built with Mater Dei, the national powerhouse program of which Scott is a part.

"It matters to me because my brothers from Mater Dei go there, so it's a plus," Scott said.

He will be taking the trip alongside a pair of elite 2025 teammates, edge-rusher Nasir Wyatt and running back Jordon Davison, both of whom are on the bubble for five-star status.

In the tumultuous world of college football, program stability can mean a lot to some recruits.

So, Dan Lanning's decision to stay at Oregon this offseason left an impression.

"It meant, to me, that he is real big on loyalty and that he will stick with his guys no matter what," Scott said.

While it is far too early to sort out Scott's biggest contenders, it's clear Oregon has drawn his attention early.

So, too, has Tennessee, who the Mater Dei star will visit March 22.
