Oregon State Beavers offer Gardena Serra dynamic duo

Oregon State offers a pair of Southern California high school football stars

The Oregon State Beavers have been active recruiters during the dead period, evaluating film to offer new prospects from around the country.

This week, that search led to a powerhouse program in Southern California.

Gardena Serra (California) duo C.J. McBean and DeVohn Moutra Jr. added scholarships from Oregon State on the same day:

McBean, a class of 2025 prospect, is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound versatile athlete who contributed on both sides of the ball this fall, primarily as a wide receiver and safety.

He hauled in 11 receptions for 191 yards and four touchdowns on offense with 77 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, seven pass break-ups and an interception on defense.

"I’m really appreciative of the Oregon State offer and all blessings to God," McBean said. "It’s just the beginning and I’m ready to keep working on my craft. I plan on making a visit and I’m trying to (sort that out)."

Moutra is a 5-foot-9. 170-pound athlete in the class of 2026 started on varsity as a sophomore and posted solid numbers - 65 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass break-ups.

"I honestly feel blessed and extremely grateful," he said. "I've been working like crazy day and night on the field, on the track and in the weight room. It feels good to see my work finally pay off, but this just is the beginning and this offer motivated me to work even harder."

Like McBean, Moutra is working to set up a time to visit Corvallis, but anticipates defensive coordinator Keith Heyward to visit Gardena Serra this spring when the opportunity arises.

So far, Oregon State has one commitment in the class of 2025 - Liberty (Nevada) three-star linebacker Jeremiah Ioane
