Jace Posey, TCU basketball signee, repeats as Texas state high jump champion

SBLive 6A Boys Basketball Player of the Year finalist broke 6A UIL state high jump record at 2022 state meet

Houston Strake Jesuit senior Jace Posey — a dual-sport star and TCU Horned Frogs basketball commit — nearly broke his own high jump record during Day 3 of the 2023 UIL State Track & Field Meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin.

Posey won his second straight gold medal in the Class 6A boys high jump, soaring to the top of the podium again on the strength of a 7-foot leap.

He beat out San Antonio Brennan senior Armando Acevedo after the duo matched each other on 6'8" and 6'10" jumps to become the last two high jumpers standing. Bryan junior Tyson Turner finished third with a 6-foot, 6-inch clearance.

Posey broke the Class 6A UIL state meet record when he won the high jump as a junior with a 7-foot, 4.25-inch leap at the 2022 state track & field meet.

It's been a banner senior year for Posey, who is also a finalist for SBLive's 2022-23 Texas Boys Basketball Class 6A Player of the Year award.
