Plano East defeats Lewisville: Live Texas high school basketball updates recap, highlights

Will Plano East keep its perfect season alive, or will Lewisville avenge its only loss this season and stake its claim as one of the top teams in Texas high school boys basketball?

The Panthers (27-0) host the Farmers (25-1) on Friday in one of biggest high school basketball games of the week — for Texas and beyond.

Plano East is ranked No. 2 in Texas and No. 17 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated national rankings, while Lewisville is No. 16 in the Lone Star State.

When the district foes met earlier this season in a Dec. 15 game at Lewisville, the undefeated Panthers came out on top by a score of 84-63.

Plano East will look to complete the season sweep against Lewisville and keep climbing the statewide and national rankings. In addition to the opportunity for revenge, Lewisville has the chance to pick up a signature win and continue a special season of its own.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. CT and is being streamed on the NFHS Network.

FOURTH QUARTER

-- Just short. AJ McPeter's last second three-pointer to tie the game hits off the front of the rim. Plano East holds on for the 62-59 to keep its perfect season alive.

-- Xavier Miller comes to the free throw line for Plano East and goes for 1-for-2, making it a three-point game with nine seconds to go. 

-- Rakai Crawford can't be stopped. He drills a deep three for Lewisville with defenders in his shooting space, making it just a two-point game. Plano East holds a 61-59 lead with nine seconds left on the clock.

-- AJ McPeters goes 1-for-2 at the free throw line after taking a foul on a shot attempt. Lewisville has left some points at the line tonight, and it could prove to be costly. 

-- Rakai Crawford does it again. He comes through with another three-pointer for Lewisville. The Farmers trail 58-53 with 52 seconds to go.

-- Xavier Miller continues to show out. The senior guard converts the and-one to give Plano East an eight point lead, 58-50, with less than a minute and a half remaining.

-- Jordan Mizell gets to the basket and finishes with his left. Plano East leads by eight points, 55-47.

-- Xavier Miller rises up and throws down a thunderous slam dunk for Plano East. The crowd is loving it. The Panthers extend their lead to 51-43.

-- A block by Xavier Miller leads to a score on the other end for DJ Hall, as Plano East jumps back out to a four point lead.

-- We have a tie game in the fourth quarter after Rakai Crawford buries a deep three. The senior is up to 17 points tonight. It's 43-43 with six minutes to go.

THIRD QUARTER

-- After falling behind by 10 points, Lewisville goes on a 7-0 run to end the quarter. AJ McPeters and Rakai Crawford come through with tough finishes for the Farmers on their final possessions of the quarter. It's 43-40 in favor of Plano East entering the fourth quarter.

-- Elijah Chambers nails a three-pointer to get Lewisville back within six points, 39-33.

-- Isaiah Brewington knocks down a pair of free throws for Plano East to stop a nice run for Lewisville to open the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

-- AJ McPeters gets another midrange jumper to go for Lewisville to end the quarter. Plano East leads by nine, 31-22, after one half.

-- Landon Brown steps up and knocks down a clutch three for Lewisville. The Farmers are back within six points, 26-20.

-- After a couple of misses near the basket for Plano East, Jordan Mizell cleans it up with a putback to make it an 11-0 run for the Panthers.

-- Plano East is locking down Lewisville defensively, and it's leading to some easy offense. Xavier Miller gets the transition bucket this time, and Plano East leads by double digits, 24-14.

-- Senior forward Jordan Mizell nails a wide open three-pointer to give Plano East a 22-14 lead. The Panthers are on a 7-0 run since the final possession of the first quarter.

FIRST QUARTER

-- McPeters gets two more points with a smooth jumper near the free throw line, but Plano East rushes down and scores right before the buzzer sounds to end the first quarter. Isaiah Brewington comes through with the buzzer-beating layup to make it 17-14.

-- AJ McPeters hits a long three for Lewisville to tie the game at 12-12 with about two minutes left in the quarter. 

-- After two minutes without any points being scored, DJ Hall gets the scoring started with a mid-range jumper for Plano East. 

-- It's officially time to get started between Plano East and Lewisville.

-- Looks like tipoff will be closer to 7:25 p.m. CT with both teams now warming up after Plano East celebrated and honored its seniors with a pregame ceremony.
