Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Washington High School Coach of the Week for Feb. 13–18 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Toby Cox, Prosser boys basketball

There haven't been many hiccups for Prosser this season, but a loss to Grandview near the end of the regular season was a small one. The two teams met again last week in the 2A CWAC district championship and Prosser got its revenge, taking down Grandview, 77-62, for its second consecutive district title. All five Prosser starters scored in double-figures for the game.  

Jason Hogg, Pullman boys swimming

Hogg and the Greyhounds' boys swim team entered the state tournament last week with good odds of capturing a team title. By the end of the weekend, Hogg and his team were holding up the Class 2A boys team championship, the first in program history for Pullman. The accomplishment for Hogg comes in his first year at the helm of the program.

Manuel Plata, Chiawana boys wrestling

It was a history-setting Mat Classic for the Chiawana boys who captured the Class 4A team title for the fourth consecutive season. The Riverhawks are the first program in the modern era to complete a 4A four-peat. Isaiah Medina's win in the 113-pound title match clinched the team championship for Chiawana in Plata's first year as head coach.

Rashaad Powell, Renton boys basketball

An incredible season thus far by the Renton boys basketball team was further sweetened by a 2A Class West Central District title with a 57-54 win over Enumclaw. The Redhawks have been rolling this season, suffering only one loss. Powell and Renton enter next weekend's regional round as the No. 3 seed, meaning regardless of a win or loss they will advance to Yakima for the first time since 2019.

Amy Westerfield, Richland girls basketball

The Bombers stunned Kamiakin last week in the girls Class 4A District 8 championship game, 61-55, to claim the district title. Richland flipped the script from the two teams' last meeting just a week prior, where the Bombers gave up a lead late. The win over Kamiakin also marked the first time any MCC team has beaten the Braves all season.
