Here are 20 players in Washington high school boys soccer to watch in 2023 WIAA postseason

From Columbia River's Alex Harris to Stadium's Levi Bieber, these standouts in Washington high school boys soccer have led their squads to the WIAA playoffs.

Based on their recent success, and on the recommendation of coaches throughout the state, here are SBLive’s 20 boys soccer players to watch in 2023 spring postseason.

The list is broken up by classification, and names are listed in alphabetical order:

CLASS 4A

DEF Ethan Bell, Curtis, soph.

Despite his 5-foot-10 frame, the ambidextrous center back controls the Vikings defense by land or air, allowing less than one goal per game for 4A SPSL-leading side.

"He is one to watch for the future and I have no doubts he can go on to the professional level if he chooses to." — Curtis coach Eddie Na

DEF Saul Beltran, Pasco, senior

The Columbia Basin College pledge has led the Bulldogs to a 35-3 record over the past two seasons, allowing just 14 goals during that stretch.

“He has been an important leader for our team.” — Pasco coach Matt Potter

MF Edgar Leon, Eastmont, junior

The junior tallied 14 goals and seven assists through the first 11 games as a central attacking midfielder for one of the Columbia Basin’s top teams.

“He is fast on the ball, creative and a problem-solver.” — Eastmont coach Vidal Hurtado

MF Javier Luevanos, Curtis, senior

A Northwest Nazarene signee, the versatile midfielder is among 4A SPSL’s top attacking threats. He has six goals and 12 assists for league-leading Vikings.

“He has a great strike on him and a vision not many high school players have.” — Curtis coach Eddie Na

MF Dean Williams, Puyallup, senior

One of most skilled and creative playmakers in program history - and plays with unbridled joy. Has 11 goals and team-leading 16 assists for one of 4A SPSL’s top sides.

“Dean’s ability to manipulate the ball and the opposition with his movement befuddles and destabilizes entire opposing midfield and back lines.” — Puyallup coach Matt White

DEF Caden Yamada, Eastlake, senior

Wheaton College commit anchors Wolves’ defense that allowed just 14 goals this year. He also added eight goals and an assist on the offensive end.

“His vision and soccer IQ make him one of the smartest players on the field any given night.” — Eastlake coach Michael Hufstader

CLASS 3A

GK Levi Bieber, Stadium, senior

UW signee can certainly make case as best netminder in the state, excelling not only as a shot-blocker in 3A PCL but as a distributor as well.

“The strongest at the position I’ve seen in 20 years at the high-school level.” — Stadium coach Jeremy Leffel

DEF Martin Estrade, Heritage, senior

Remarkable turnaround season for 3A GSHL champions was made possible in part by efforts from the Multnomah signee, who led defense that allowed just 10 goals.

“His defensive principles coupled with his ability to read the game was key to our defensive success.” — Heritage coach George Moya

MF Idin Fakhri, Lake Washington, senior

Rival coach called ex-Sounders Academy player “the best player in the best league (3A KingCo) in the state" because of his ball skills, attacking ability and vision (12 goals).

“Idin listens to his coaches and has become a natural leader on the team. He is also a great teammate and teacher.” — Lake Washington coach Michael Adamik

F Sheehan Ganguly, Interlake, senior

Senior forward has 15 goals and five assists for an Interlake side hoping to make some postseason noise out of the 3A KingCo.

“Great ball skills, clever goal-scorer and brings excitement and energy to every touch.” —Interlake coach Dan Peterson

F Ben Hanson, Edmonds-Woodway, senior

Undefeated Warriors won first 3A Wesco title in two decades behind their captain. Versatile forward has eight goals and a team-leading 12 assists.

“He’s established himself as a great facilitator and explosive finisher. His relentless energy sets the tone for the team and wears opponents down.” — Edmonds-Woodway coach Jason Hanson

DEF Ethan Kelly, Silas, junior

Junior captain and three-year starter sits in heart of state’s top defense, conceding just a state-best four goals (matching 2A Aberdeen) for 3A PCL champions.

“Ethan is incredibly composed on the ball and can handle just about any 1v1 situation.” — Silas coach Kyle Nothstein

DEF Collin Lane, Auburn Mountainview, senior

Naturally an attacking player, the senior instead takes on a central defender role for Lions - and has done so at an extremely high level.

“He is the most consistent and fastest defender in the league.” — Auburn Mountainview coach Joseph West

F Jake MacKenzie, Central Kitsap, senior

As far as goal-scoring goes, you’d be hard pressed to find many better than the Cougars’ striker. Reigning SSC MVP had 28 goals and 10 assists entering May.

“With outstanding pace and composure in front of goal, Jake is truly a player that changes a game and gives us a chance every single game, no matter the opposition.” — Central Kitsap coach Patrick Leonard

F Farhan Moustafa, North Thurston, senior

Former Sounders Academy player, the Gonzaga signee averages 2.5 goals per game for the Rams, including multiple four-goal performances this year.

“A strong leader and an excellent teammate.” — North Thurston coach Dewayne Thomas

MF Ben Orton, Lewis & Clark, senior

Frontrunner for 4A/3G GSL player of year, Orton tallied 12 goals and seven assists through his first 12 games. Can also shift to defender when the situation calls.

“His pace, skill, creativity and vision make him the ideal box-to-box midfielder.” — Lewis and Clark coach Mica Lamb

CLASS 2A

F Carlens Dollin, Pullman, senior

One of premier goal-scoring threats in the state, Dollin already topped his 21-goal mark from last season in just 14 games (22 goals, eight assists).

“Like any top scorer, he draws a lot of heavy marking and double-teaming.” — Pullman coach Doug Winchell

F Alex Harris, Columbia River, senior

Reigning Gatorade player of the year in Washington, and Cornell commit has 61 goals through 18 games, and eclipsed 100 career goals despite a missed COVID-19 year.

“Dynamic forward, very intelligent on the field. He’s fast, great on the ball and a great finisher.” — Columbia River assistant coach Ryan Callahan

MF Xander Koenig, Squalicum, senior

Saint Martin’s University signee has led Storm to the top of 2A sides in the Northwest Conference with his unselfish play.

“The moment is never too big for him and he often comes up big for his team when they really need him.” — Squalicum coach Jose Rodriguez

GK Treyson Smiley, Lynden, senior

Won’t find a more physically imposing goalkeeper (6-4, 200) than the UNC Wilmington signee. Played for USL’s Richmond Kickers in offseason.

“He is just a pure athlete. He is a three-sport athlete with four state titles (two in football, two in basketball); and also is a starter and key contributor in those sports as well.” — Lynden coach Drew Smiley
