Here are 20 position players in Washington high school baseball to watch in 2023 postseason

Early college pledges to uncommitted prospects, Washington state high school baseball has been filled with standouts at the plate and in the field this spring

From Tahoma's Carson Ohland to Cedar Park Christian's Adam Haight, many of Washington’s top high school baseball players are two-way. position-player threats as hitters and defenders.

Based on their recent success, and on the recommendation of coaches throughout the state, here are SBLive’s 20 position players to watch in the 2023 spring postseason.

Editor's note: Players only eligible for one list. SBLive tried sorting multi-position standouts in best position - or one they project to spend most time at. Also, players expected to miss much of season due to injury were not considered.

The list is broken up by classification, and names are listed in alphabetical order:

CLASS 4A

Carson Ohland, Tahoma baseball, class of 2023

Gavin Brubaker, Curtis, senior

Middle infielder plays in loaded 4A SPSL, but the Northwest Nazarene signee stands out in the field and at the plate.

Donte Grant, Puyallup, senior

Multi-sport athlete is just as quick in the outfield as he is on the football field, but the future is in baseball for Vikings' standout. Signed to Central Arizona.

Kai Halstead, Puyallup, junior

Always seems to come up in the clutch when his team needs it. Stanford commit is commander in chief behind the dish.

Peter Hollabaugh, Kennedy Catholic, senior

Corner infielder certainly has clutch gene wih power, blasting a two-out grand slam in extra innings earlier this week to end Union’s season. Saint Martin’s signee.

Tyler Jones, Woodinville, junior

Multi-sport athlete can play just about anywhere in the infield for the Falcons and has plenty of talent in the batter’s box. One of the state’s top uncommitted players.

Jay Mentink, Sumner, senior

Center-field mentality transferred just as well on the football field at defensive back. Mentink will play both sports at Princeton next year.

Carson Ohland, Tahoma, senior

UW signee could hear his name called in this summer's 2023 MLB Draft as state's top overall prospect. But his eyes are set on Class 4A championship title first.

Grady Woodward, Eastlake, junior

4A KingCo's top player has versatility to play in the outfield or infield - and constantly shows massive power hitting stroke. UW commit.

CLASS 3A

Jake Mason Ferndale baseball

Reeve Boyd, Seattle Prep, senior

Opposing coaches had plenty of good things to say about Boyd, a hard-hitting Oregon State signee that can lock down any infield.

Sebastian David, Lakeside of Seattle, senior

Metro League coaches were quick to point Stanford signee is one of best hitters they’ve seen - and can play most of infield positions, too.

Jace Hampson, Lynnwood, junior

Third in the 3A Wesco in doubles for the regular season, Hampson had a sensational sophomore season last year at shortstop and on the mound. Oregon commit.

Simeon Howard, Kennewick, senior

Mid-Columbia Conference player of the year, Howard’s quickness in the outfield and power at the plate has only helped Lions' state title hopes.

Max Martin, Southridge, senior

Made the Mid-Columbia Conference first team as an outfielder this season, but Oregon sees its 2023 signee as a shortstop.

Jake Mason, Ferndale, senior

Has been tearing the cover off the ball and also has been as solid as they come in the field. Committed to UW for football, but has shown that isn’t his only sport.

Xavier Neyens, Mount Vernon, sophomore

Already committed to Oregon State and is regarded as one of the best players in the country for class of 2025. Can play multiple positions and gets it done at the plate.

CLASS 2A

WIAA Class 2A baseball championship game, Tumwater vs. Columbia River in Yakima

Ryan Bair, Selah, senior

Leading 2A CWAC power into the playoffs as the first baseman with 27 hits and 24 RBI to pair with his .474 batting average.

Alex Overbay, Tumwater, senior

Team’s best infielder has plenty of power at the plate and can shut batters down on the mound, too. UNLV signee.

Chris Parkin, Columbia River, junior

Throw him anywhere in the infield and he’ll be just fine. Utility man for the Rapids is still uncommitted.

CLASS 1A-B

WIAA Class 1A baseball championship game: Bellevue Christian vs. Cedar Park Christian in Yakima (Adam Haight)

Adam Haight, Cedar Park Christian, junior

Bat has big time power and is solid defensively at shortstop for Cedar Park Christian. Oregon State commit will also spend some time on the mound.

Reese Vassar, Brewster, senior

Brewster coach Todd Phillips said Vassar is as reliable as they come hitting leadoff and in the infield. Hitting over .500 at the top of lineup.
