Class 4A state girls basketball tournament, first round: Emerald Ridge vs. Bothell

It took a bit for Bothell to get going, but once the Cougars found their groove, they rolled and withstood any Emerald Ridge comeback attempt in the loser-out contest.

After a back-and-forth first half where the Bothell sank just one 3-pointer, the Cougars' deep attack finally came together as they shot 57.1% from deep in the second half.

Bothell's McKylee Hawkins powered the Cougars with a game-high 15 points and 18 rebounds for a double-double. Ten of Hawkins' 15 points came in the second half, nine of them coming from beyond the arc.

Emerald Ridge was led by Naomi Senato and Divina Williams who each scored 11 points. Semaj Williams added 10 points for the Jaguars.

The Lions managed just six points in the first quarter with their first field goal of the game coming with 2:30 left on the clock.

Tahoma's defensive effort paired with its balanced attack on offense had the Bears in front by double digits for much of the game. Their largest lead at any point was 18 points.

Lily Cavanaugh scored a team-high 11 points, while Brooke Deyak and Kate Wooten each contributed 10 points. Adalynn Busch brought down a game-high 18 rebounds for the Bears.
