National high school wrestling: Who are the best of the best at 106 pounds?
As the high school wrestling seasons come to a close across the country, we're putting together a fictitious tournament — let’s call it the SBLive National Mock Invitational — featuring eight of the top wrestlers from across the United States in each weight class.
Over the next several weeks, we will unveil the weight classes one at a time then ask you, the reader: Who would emerge victorious in matchups between the best wrestlers from New England to Southern California, and everywhere in between?
The leading vote-getter in each weight classification will be crowned mock national champion — and all the winners will be announced atop the would-be podium.

Aidan Carmody, Livingston (New Jersey)
A veteran at 106 pounds, Carmody is a three-time state qualifier and two-time state placer in New Jersey. He has faced stiff competition throughout his high school career and is looking to leave Livingston with a gold medal this winter.
Keanu Dillard, Bethlehem Catholic (Pennsylvania)
Dillard, a freshman, recently won his first Class 3A state title by technical fall. He missed a good chunk of his first varsity season due to injury, but the accomplished junior wrestler made his way back to help Bethlehem Catholic capture its ninth state title.
Darren Florance, Bainbridge-Guilford (New York)
Florance was a state placer as an eighth-grader who went undefeated last season en route to the Division II state title. He was the program’s first state champion since 2016. Now a junior, Florance is on the hunt for more hardware.
Dom Munaretto, St. Charles East (Illinois)
The St. Charles East freshman went 50-0 this season en route to the Class 3A state title. Back in December, Munaretto was the 106-pound champion at the Walsh Ironman. He was a 14U Triple Crown winner in 2021.

Haakon Peterson, Dodgeville (Wisconsin)
Peterson is a two-time gold medalist in Greco-Roman at the 16U National Championships. The freshman will be attempting to win his first state title this winter.
Alexander Pierce, Iowa City West (Iowa)
Pierce, a freshman, captured the Class 3A state title earlier this month. He finished his first varsity season with a 41-2 overall record.
Javaan Yarbrough, Copley (Ohio)
A two-time Fargo national champion and state placer, Yarbrough is peaking with the Ohio state championships looming. He suffered a surprising loss to Notre Dame’s (Pennsylvania) Ayden Smith at the Walsh Ironman before coming back to defeat Smith in the Beast of the East finals. He will be going for his first state title in March.
Rocklin Zinkin, Buchanan (California)
Zinkin, a freshman, won the 109-pound title at the Doc Buchanan Invitational. He is 31-1 overall this season.
