Here are the candidates for the WaFd BankArizona High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 31-Feb. 6 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Alex Aikens, Senior, Combs - Allowing Combs to edge Cortez on Tuesday 66-63, Aikens led the game in scoring with 24 points. He also had eight rebounds, five steals, four assists and a deflection to help secure the win. 

Adrien Armstrong, Junior, Carl Hayden - Shooting 63-percent from the field on the night, Armstrong posted his second-highest scoring total of his career with 24 points in Wednesday’s 68-57 win over Metro Tech. Good for only his second-ever double-double as well, he had 11 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist to help get the job done on the hardwood. 

Dillan Baker, Senior, Salpointe Catholic - With a career-high 35 points on Friday in the 83-66 win over Buena, Baker also had seven rebounds, two deflections, two assists and a steal to round out yet another strong performance as the Lancers eye the playoffs. 

Kenyelle Bailey, Senior, Marcos de Niza - Good for both a double-double and a new career-high in scoring, Bailey posted 23 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Padres’ 91-59 victory over Cortez on Saturday.

Anthony Batson Jr., Sophomore, Notre Dame Prep - Leading Notre Dame Prep in scoring on Tuesday, Batson’s 25 points helped the Saints lock up a 72-50 win over Deer Valley. Batson also had 10 rebounds for a double-double, along with three assists and two blocks. 

Kota Benson, Junior, Mesa - Dropping a career-high 24 points on Tuesday, Benson also had seven assists, six steals and three rebounds to help Mesa plow past Skyline 72-33. 

David Bright, Senior, Willow Canyon - His first triple-double, Bright posted 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals along with four assists, four deflections and a block on Monday in Willow Canyon’s 100-34 victory over Glendale. 

Marcel Calvin, Junior, Metro Tech - Making his first appearance on our player of the week list, Calvin posted a career-high 27 points on Monday in the 72-56 victory over Sierra Linda. Shooting 77-percent from the field, Calvin also had 14 rebounds for a double-double, three assists, three steals, two deflections and a block. 

Andrew Camacho, Junior, Peoria - Camacho’s week was electric, with things kicking into gear on Tuesday in the 71-57 win over Desert Edge. Camacho opened things up by posting 39 points, eight assists, three steals, two deflections and a rebound. He followed it up on Friday by helping the Panthers edge the Notre Dame Prep Saints, as he led the team with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. 

Nate Calmese, Senior, Mesquite - Leading Tuesday’s game against Seton Catholic nearly across the board, Calmese posted 31 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and a steal on the night to help pick up a 74-56 win. He followed it up on Thursday with one of his most dynamic performances of the season in the 90-61 win over Mica Mountain, where he had 41 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. 

Aidan Carino, Junior, Willow Canyon - Just shy of his career-high with 20 points on Monday, Carino shot 78-percent from the field while also grabbing four deflections, three steals, two rebounds and two assists in the 100-34 victory over Glendale. 

Masai Dean, Junior, Cholla - Despite dropping a tough one on Monday to Marana to open the week, Dean still posted 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists on the night. Following it up on Tuesday, Dean helped Cholla pick up a 55-51 victory over Pueblo, leading the game in scoring with 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. 

Cohen Ferguson, Sophomore, Campo Verde - Monday was not only senior night for the Coyotes but also an emotional moment as they retired the jersey of their late teammate Jayson Murset, who passed away a year ago to the day from a car accident. Helping Campo Verde pick up a huge 72-60 win over Higley in a packed house, Ferguson led the team in scoring with 20 points on the night along with six steals, four rebounds, four assists and a block. 

Carter Gittens, Junior, Sunrise Mountain - Gittens had another great week personally, despite the team starting things off with a loss on Monday to Ironwood. In the two games this week, the other being a win against Centennial on Friday, he averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and two assists for the Mustangs. 

Yarell Greer, Junior, Higley - It was a tough environment to play in on Monday to start the week, where Greer managed to post 24 points, six rebounds, four steals, four assists and three deflections despite the 72-60 loss to Campo Verde. 

Bradey Henige, Sophomore, Cactus - The big man is putting up big numbers once again. On Tuesday, he posted 22 points and 20 rebounds, along with two assists, two blocks and a deflection to help Cactus cruise by Barry Goldwater 73-28.

Caden Hunter, Junior, Liberty - Leading the Lions to a big region victory over Boulder Creek on Friday, Hunter posted 26 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double, along with three steals and an assist. 

Aadem Isai, Junior, Valley Vista - Starting the week off with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, Isai’s performance allowed Valley Vista to pick up a 66-53 victory over Tolleson on Monday. 

Rob Jenkins, Senior, Cactus - The explosive scorer became the most recent member of the 1000-career point club last week in Monday��s victory over Desert Edge, becoming only the fifth player in school history to do so.

Raymond Johnson, Junior, Central - Posting a career-high 24 points on Monday, Johnson helped Central edge Betty H. Fairfax 82-81. Good for a double-double on the night, he also had 11 rebounds and an assist. 

Connor Lopez, Junior, Poston Butte - Shooting 77-percent from the field on Monday to help Poston Butte edge past Seton Catholic 58-52, Lopez posted a career-high 23 points alongside seven rebounds and an assist to help pick up the win. 

Rowan McKenzie, Sophomore, Boulder Creek - Leading the Jags in scoring on Tuesday, McKenzie had 25 points to go with five rebounds, three steals and two assists to help Boulder Creek cruise past Sandra Day O’Connor 71-56. Despite Friday’s 72-63 loss to Liberty, McKenzie still managed to post 24 points for the Jags along with seven rebounds and three assists. 

Ahamed Mohamed, Senior, Apollo - After posting 31 points on Monday to open up the week against Kellis, Mohamed moved into Apollo’s second-place spot for all-time scoring with 1,579 points and counting, as he eyes Holland Woods' all-time record of 1,877 points going into the playoffs. 

Tony Mottola, Senior, Marcos de Niza - In Saturday’s 91-59 beatdown of Cortez, Mottola exploded for 33 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals to help the Padres get the win. 

Blessing Nwotite, Senior, Paradise Honors - Leading Friday’s 97-37 blowout of Youngker with 24 points on the night, he also had seven assists, four deflections, three steals, a rebound and a block as the Panthers prepare for the playoffs around the corner. 

Mike Orr, Senior, Boulder Creek - His first appearance on the list, Orr shot 80-percent from the field on Tuesday to post a career-high 21 points along with five rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist in the 71-56 victory over Sandra Day O’Connor. 

Ashton Reese, Junior, Pinnacle - Helping Pinnacle edge Chaparral 68-67 on Monday, Reese led the team in scoring with 27 points on the night. Setting a new career high, he also had three assists, a steal, a rebound, a deflection and a block.

Elijah Saunders, Senior, Sunnyslope - Saunders is continuing to thrive during his senior season as he opened things up on Tuesday with 33 points while shooting 85-percent from the field in the 61-41 win over Valley Vista. Additionally, he had six rebounds on the night, two assists and two steals. On Thursday, he helped Sunnyslope pick up yet another win and continue dominating with a 65-38 victory over Tolleson, where he posted 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. 

Jake Smith, Senior, Buena - In Buena’s 71-54 victory over Sahuaro on Tuesday, Smith had a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds, combined with five assists, four steals and a pair of blocks and deflections. 

Jordan Stevens, Senior, Gila Ridge  - Helping Gila Ridge defeat Yuma 79-62 on Wednesday, Stevens had a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds, along with four assists, three steals and a block. 

Croix Sweeney, Senior, Horizon - Dropping 29 points in Monday’s 82-36 victory over Paradise Valley, Sweeney also had eight rebounds, three steals and two assists to help the Huskies get the job done easily on the court. 

Edmond Touye, Senior, Poston Butte - With nearly as many points on his own as the opposing team in total, Touye helped the Broncos pick up an 80-29 win over Apache Junction on Tuesday with 22 points, four rebounds, four steals and an assist. 

Hayden Turberville, Sophomore, Moon Valley - In Moon Valley’s 88-65 road win over the Tempe Buffaloes, Turberville posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Rockets fight for one of the final play-in spots. 

Jaylen Wesley, Senior, McClintock - Leading the Chargers to a 74-53 win over Horizon on Wednesday with 33 points, he also had seven rebounds, four steals and three assists to round out the night and keep McClintock’s push for the championships strong.
