SBLive Arkansas Super 7 baseball rankings: Top teams knocked off by the unranked

This week's Super 7 baseball rankings

It was the week of the upset across the state as we saw numerous unranked teams take down ranked teams. Bismarck blanked Class 3A No. 1 Ashdown while Texarkana took down Sheridan behind a big performance on the mound from 2023 Razorbacks commit Ty Waid. There will be some games in the coming weeks that decide playoff seeding and conference titles.

SB Live Class 6A Super 7

1. Springdale Har-Ber 12-4

2. Rogers 11-2

3. Bentonville West 10-5

4. LR Catholic 10-3

5. FS Southside 12-4

6. Bentonville 10-5

7. Cabot 8-5

Analysis: We could be headed towards another Springdale Har-Ber and Rogers title matchup if things keep going the way they have been. Fort Smith Southside was the Class 6A team of the week sweeping Bentonville behind the terrific trio of David Sorg, Kent Carlisle and Zeb Allen. Catholic finally lost a game after their 6-3 setback to Greenbrier but rebounded Friday with a 10-9 win against North Little Rock. Bentonville West swept their conference games this week and are tied for second in the 6A West at 3-1.

SB Live Class 5A Super 7

1. Van Buren 11-2

2. Benton 12-0

3. El Dorado 14-2

4. Batesville 11-3

5. Greene County Tech 12-2

6. Greenbrier 7-5

7. Sheridan 8-4

Analysis: Sheridan dropped a conference game to Texarkana this week but stayed in the rankings. Texarkana was led by Ty Waid who struck out 14 Yellowjackets. Greenbrier swept their conference doubleheader and defeated a scorching Catholic team in non-conference action. Greene County Tech has quietly gone 12-2 and sits atop the 5A-East with Batesville at 4-0. El Dorado stays hot behind hot bats and a pitching staff that is giving teams a hard time every at bat. Benton and Van Buren continue to take care of business and will be tested the deeper we get in conference play.

SB Live Class 4A Super 7

1. Valley View 13-2

2. Lonoke 14-2

3. Morrilton 9-0

4. Brookland 9-4

5. Huntsville 13-3

6. Arkadelphia 6-3

7. Monticello 9-5

Analysis: Class 4A has been volatile. We have three new teams in the rankings this week because of that volatility. Monticello has emerged as the favorite, currently, in the 4A-8 while Arkadelphia is undefeated in the 4A-7 after thumping Nashville 12-1 earlier in the week. Trip Campbell hit for the cycle and got the win on the mound. Teams are only hitting .074 against him this season. Huntsville has been on the radar all season and after early losses to high class teams, the Eagles are soaring. Brookland split with Trumann this week but still has the talent to make a run. Morrilton is still undefeated and may not be tested till regional play. Lonoke got no-hitters from Tripp Sullivan, his fourth of his career, and Steele Eaves in the doubleheader sweep of Mills. Valley View got a convincing 13-1 win over Little Rodk Christian on Friday and Ole Miss Commit Slade Caldwell blasted a grand slam, which was his fifth homerun of the season.

SB Live Class 3A Super 7

1. Harding Academy 12-3

2. Camden Harmony Grove 14-1-1

3. Ashdown 12-3

4. Walnut Ridge 9-2

5. Rose Bud 11-3

6. Paris 9-2

7. Rivercrest 9-2

Analysis: Bismarck made waves with their 3-0 shutout of previously No. 1-ranked Ashdown. Ian Smith went 2-for-3 at the plate and also got the win on the mound going the distance. We had Bismarck ranked earlier in the year based on early reports, and they are playing up to the level we expected as of late. Camden Harmony Grove may be the hottest team in the state after defeating 4A Malvern 17-10 and 1A Taylor 9-1 this week. Bradley Launius and Caleb Johnson have led the Hornets in hitting. Harding Academy and Rose Bud are on a collision course that will decide the conference title. Rivercrest joins the rankings behind a 6-1 conference record and they sit behind #4 Walnut Ridge.

SB Live Class 2A Super 7

1. Woodlawn 12-4

2. McCrory 10-4-1

3. Carlisle 11-4

4. Murfreesboro 9-4

5. Horatio 9-3-1

6. Buffalo Island Central 6-2

7. Rector 10-2

Analysis: Murfreesboro jumped up and defeated conference foe Horatio 6-1 behind a strong performance from senior Alex Bailey. The Rattlers came up short in 2021 and have their eyes on the prize. The top three teams are taking car of business. McCrory and Carlisle will decide the 2A-6 title when they face off on April 14th.

SB Live Class 1A Super 7

1. Izard County 9-1

2. West Side Greers Ferry 7-3

3. Taylor 7-3-2

4. Ouachita 9-5

5. Norfork 11-3

6. Mount Ida 8-1

7. Marked Tree 6-4

Analysis: Ouachita scored seven runs before making their first out in a 13-3 beatdown of conference rival Mount Ida. Norfork continues to roll as they have won eight games in a row and nine of their past 10. I still don’t see anyone outside of Westside challenging Izard County. The Cougars are too deep and too talented. Marked Tree makes their first appearance in the rankings after a 5-0 start in conference play.
