Arkansas high school girls basketball Top 25 rankings (1/30/2024)

The latest Top 25 rankings in Arkansas prep girls basketball

For the most part, normalcy returned to The Natural State following a week-long blast of arctic weather conditions, halting athletic events statewide.

We have a new No. 1 in the SBLive Arkansas Top 25 girls basketball rankings after North Little Rock suffered its first loss of the season against in-state competition.

As the end of January nears and teams prepare for the final month of the regular season, there will be plenty of matchups to keep an eye on for playoff seedings. Be sure to keep up with the day-to-day schedules, as well as playoff brackets

1. Farmington (27-1)

Last week: 2

Three more dominant wins over conference foes headlined the week for the Lady Cardinals, along with senior point guard Reese Shirey, a Northeastern State (Okla.) signee, surpassing 1,000 career points.

2. Conway (16-6)

Last week: 3

The Lady Wampus Cats have now won four consecutive conference games following victories over Jonesboro and Bryant. They are at home for both contests this week, starting with Little Rock Southwest before rival No. 5 North Little Rock comes to town for a massive showdown.

3. Fort Smith Northside (19-3)

Last week: 4

Dominant wins over Bentonville West and Fort Smith Southside capped the week for the Lady Bears. They travel to No. 16 Har-Ber in their lone contest of the week.

4. Cabot (20-3)

Last week: 6

Senior guard Jenna Cook took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 15 points in that frame, and the Lady Panthers frustrated North Little Rock's offense to complete the upset over No. 1. Cabot has now won two of the past three contests against NLR dating back to last season.

5. North Little Rock (19-3)

Last week: 1

A 30-point rout of Bryant got the week tipped off, but the Lady Charging Wildcats did suffer their first defeat against an in-state opponent in a Top 6 matchup with Cabot. As head coach Daryl Fimple mentioned, the "rat poison" has been ridden of and NLR's sights are now set on a road trip to No. 12 Central on Tuesday.

6. Springdale (18-4)

Last week: 7

The Lady Red Dogs bounced back from a close overtime loss to Fort Smith Northside with victories over Rogers and Rogers Heritage. They host a dangerous No. 17 Bentonville Tigers squad on Tuesday, whom they fell to on Jan. 11.

7. Mountain Home (17-5)

Last week: 8

A close victory on the road against Alma was the Lady Bombers' sixth consecutive win, a contest in which they claimed the 12th and final lead change. They are back on the road Tuesday against No. 15 Russellville, who is gunning for their top spot in the 5A-West.

8. Greenwood (16-4)

Last week: 9

If the looks on their faces when the final horn sounded against Mountain Home did not tell you how frustrated the Lady Bulldogs were, their play last week surely did. They bounced back with dominating victories, outscoring Alma and Greenbrier by a combined 161-56.

9. Nashville (17-4)

Last week: 12

Despite playing short-handed for most of the season, the Scrapperettes have proven multiple times as worthy to be one of the state's Top 10 teams. Saturday's road win over Vilonia, a contest that Nashville led 35-12 at halftime, was another example as the Scrapperettes got redemption from their season-opening loss to the Lady Eagles.

10. Vilonia (15-6)

Last week: 5

The Lady Eagles dropped a Saturday non-conference Top 15 matchup to Nashville despite a valiant rally. They did, however, win their three 5A-Central matchups by a combined 192-78 during their packed week.

11. Fayetteville (16-7)

Last week: 10

The Lady Purple Dogs put the frustrating loss to Har-Ber behind them and swept the week over Bentonville and Bentonville West. They have just one game this week, playing host to Fort Smith Southside on Tuesday.

12. Little Rock Central (13-8)

Last week: 11

Following a tough stretch in which they dropped four of five contests, the Lady Tigers dominated both Little Rock Southwest and Jonesboro by a combined 122-51. Only one game is on the slate this week, but it is a big one at home against No. 5 North Little Rock on Tuesday.

13. Greene County Tech (18-5)

Last week: 20

Week in and week out, the Lady Eagles continue to prove themselves and they remain at the top of the 5A-East standings following Top 25 wins over West Memphis and Marion, along with a triumph over Paragould. They can not slow down with a road trip to second place No. 18 Searcy on Tuesday, then back home against No. 14 Nettleton Friday.

14. Nettleton (16-4)

Last week: 14

The Lady Raiders are now 1-2 against 5A-East foe Searcy, as the Lady Lions snapped their three-game win streak Friday. Nettleton hits the road for both games this week, starting at Paragould before heading to conference leader and No. 13 Greene County Tech Friday.

15. Russellville (15-5)

Last week: 15

Convincing wins over Harrison and Van Buren put the Lady Cylones' win streak at five. They welcome No. 7 Mountain Home to town on Tuesday for a Top 15 showdown in a contest with major 5A-West implications.

16. Har-Ber (15-7)

Last week: 13

A dominant road win at Rogers Heritage preceded a three-point loss to Bentonville - a squad Har-Ber also beat by five on Jan. 9. The Lady Wildcats start the week at Bentonville West before hosting a crucial matchup against No. 3 Fort Smith Northside, the current 6A-West leader.

17. Bentonville (12-11)

Last week: 21

After taking one on the chin to Fayetteville in a 19-point loss, the Lady Tigers responded strong as they escaped Har-Ber on the road. They have another important conference matchup to tip off the week at No. 6 Springdale Tuesday.

18. Searcy (17-4)

Last week: 17

Since dropping a four-point heartbreaker on Jan. 9 to West Memphis, the Lady Lions have won four straight. They host No. 13 Greene County Tech on Tuesday with hopes of claiming first place in the 5A-East before they finish out the week at Paragould.

19. West Memphis (13-8)

Last week: 16

The week got off to a rough start for the Lady Blue Devils, as they lost to Greene County Tech at home. They bounced back in road victories over Paragould and then Batesville in a gritty matchup. They host their rival and 21st-ranked Marion on Friday.

20. Brookland (23-2)

Last week: 19

Senior Kinley Morris scored 25 points, and surpassed 1,000 for her career, in Monday's 10-point triumph over Highland. The victory secured a seed in next month's 4A-East Regional that will be held on Brookland's home court. They also take on Forrest City and Southside (Batesville) this week.

21. Marion (11-8)

Last week: 18

After not taking the floor for 10 days, the Lady Patriots forced an incredible 35 turnovers in a rout of Paragould. They then dropped a tough one by a point to 5A-East leader Greene County Tech before taking down Valley View.

22. Gravette (19-5)

Last week: 22

Another three-win week kept the Lady Lions within one game of top-ranked Farmington in the 4A-1 standings, but they do have a rematch at Prairie Grove on Friday after slipping past the Lady Tigers by three on Thursday. They have Pea Ridge before that on Tuesday, who also played them close on Jan. 18.

23. Morrilton (22-1)

Last week: 23

The train just keeps chugging right along as the Lady Devil Dogs have not lost in nearly three months and have three regular-season games remaining, including Ozark and Waldron this week.

24. Bergman (30-2)

Last week: 24

Wins over Elkins, Flippin and Green Forest put the Lady Panthers' win streak at 13 and they look to make it 14 against Lincoln on Tuesday before tipping off February against West Fork on Friday.

25. Lake Hamilton (15-7)

Last week: 25

After hardly breaking a sweat against Pine Bluff and Arkansas High, the Lady Wolves have a busy week with 5A-South matchups against Sheridan, White Hall and Hot Springs.
