Arkansas Activities Association releases 2024-26 basketball classifications, conferences

The Arkansas Activities Association board of directors unanimously approved the new  basketball classifications and conferences for the 2024-26 cycle Friday. 

This will be the first cycle to include the competitive equity factor that is figured every two years as well as the debut of class 4A switching to eight member conferences. These changes were voted on and approved by the AAA member schools last summer.

The only class to see no change is 6A. Farmington and the Little Rock Christian boys, the two-time defending Class 4A champions, move up to 5A while eStem drops to 4A.

The Central Arkansas Christian boys, who just won the Class 3A title, Green Forest and Gosnell move up from 3A to 4A.

Greenland, Haas Hall Bentonville, Lavaca, Mansfield, Rison and Thaden move up to 3A from 2A while Ashdown and Subiaco Academy drop from 4A. Haas Hall Fayetteville and Providence Academy also move to 3A.

Alpena, Decatur, Hampton, Mammoth Spring, Ozark Catholic and The New School move up to class 2A and they are joined by the Central Arkansas Christian girls, Corning, Danville, Hackett, Piggott and Tuckerman, who move down from 3A.

Earle, Magazine and Western Yell County drop to 1A from 2A. Arkansas School for Advanced Studies, Founders Classical, Founders West Little Rock, Friendship Aspire, Oark and Columbia Christian are slated for Class 1A for the upcoming cycle cycle.
