Scorebook Live California’s week 2 LA City Section football rankings
After two weeks of play, here are Scorebook Live California's week two LA City Section football rankings.
1. Narbonne - 1-1 - @ St. Paul
The Gauchos were stunned against Lone Peak (Utah) 41-21 over the weekend. Linebacker Jordan Banks promised Narbonne wouldn't lose another game like that all year after the defeat.
Led by running back Trenell Ridgley, St. Paul will be another stiff test for the Gauchos.
2. Garfield - 1-1 - vs. El Rancho
Garfield was throttled on the road against Serra Gardena 41-14. It was 28-0 after the first quarter. The Bulldogs move up because it was a tough week for the City Section. Being blown out by Serra wasn't as shocking as a few of the other teams' defeats. Garfield is still an open division team.
3. San Pedro - 2-0 - vs. Taft
The Pirates dominated Eagle Rock on defense and Joshua Ward rushed for two scores in San Pedro's 21-6 victory last week. The Pirates should be undefeated when they face Narbonne in October.
4. Birmingham - 1-1 - vs. Chaminade
Crespi has clearly taken a step forward this year, but Birmingham losing 55-14 to the Celts was surprising. The Patriots move down two spots.
5. San Fernando - 2-0 - @ Franklin
San Fernando trailed Canyon 23-0 Thursday, but fought back to win 58-43. Franklin has a high powered offense and it will be interesting to see how San Fernando's defense starts out on Friday.
6. Banning - 0-2 - @ Dominguez
After opening with Cathedral and St. Paul, Banning should get their first win this week. Dominguez hasn't played anyone, but they are 2-0 and have put up over 100 points in their two wins.
7. Carson - 0-2 - @ Cathedral
For the second consecutive week, things don't get any easier for the Colts. Carson lost to Edison 55-21 Thursday.
Cathedral put up just 21 points against Banning. How will Carson's defense perform this week?
8. Fairfax - 2-0 - BYE
Fairfax is 2-0 under new coach Juan Solorio following wins over Dorsey and Sylmar. In two weeks, the Lions play Eagle Rock. That game will have big playoff implications.
9. Crenshaw - 1-1 - BYE
Similarly to Garfield, Crenshaw was annihilated by a Division 1 Southern Section opponent last week. The Cougars were blanked 48-0 by Upland. Crenshaw hosts Garfield in two weeks in another game that has big playoff implications.
10. Venice - 1-1 - BYE
Venice lost to a bad Harvard-Westlake team 35-28. Birmingham beat Harvard-Westlake 34-0 two weeks ago. Yikes.
In the mix: Westchester, Cleveland, Eagle Rock, Franklin, Canoga Park
