Watch: Etiwanda shows out in playoff win against Mater Dei to make CIFSS Open Division finals

RANCHO CUCAMONGA– Etiwanda led from wire to wire on Saturday to dethrone reigning back-to-back Southern Section Mater Dei and advance to the Open Division finals with a 64-53 victory.

Kennedy Smith totaled 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists for the Eagles in under three quarters of play. Aliyahna "Puff" Morris scored 15 points and recorded six assists and two blocks. Majesty Cade had 14 points for Etiwanda and Sa'lah Hemingway added six points, six rebounds, and three blocks.

Mater Dei looked the part of an incumbent champion and put up a strong fight. The Monarchs were led by Lani White's 23 points, and Caia Elisaldez scored 13. Etiwanda will take on Sierra Canyon next weekend in the championship.
