Here are SBLive’s second Top 10 LA City Section high school baseball rankings of the season. The rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Connor Morrissette and are released weekly.

SBLIVE’S LA CITY SECTION TOP 10 BASEBALL RANKINGS

Feb. 28, 2021

1. Birmingham (5-1)

Last week: 2

The Patriots beat Hart 6-5 thanks to a walk-off single from junior Vince Cervantes last week. The win pushes the Patriots to No. 1 this week. 

2. Granada Hills (4-1)

Last week: 1

The Highlanders have won three straight. Senior Will White had three RBI's in Granada Hills' 7-2 win over Quartz Hill last week. 

3. Roosevelt (3-0)

Last week: 5

The Roughriders have beaten Taft, Marshall and No. 4 Chatsworth this season. 

4. Chatsworth (1-2)

Last week: 3

Chatsworth fought back to take down No. 7 Palisades 2-1 in eight innings on Saturday. 

5. Cleveland (3-3)

Last week: 4

Senior Gabe Juarez is one of the top power hitters in the City. The Cavs have won two games in a row against Thousand Oaks and Burroughs.

6. San Pedro (1-2)

Last week: 6

The Pirates offense exploded for 14 runs in Saturday's 14-10 victory over Valley Christian. 

7. Palisades (1-1-1)

Last week: 7

Palisades lost an eight inning heartbreaker to No. 4 Chatsworth 2-1 and tied No. 9 Sylmar 4-4 last week. 

8. El Camino Real (3-3)

Last week: 8

The Royals have won two straight games to get back to .500. 

9. Sylmar (0-1-1)

Last week: 9

Sylmar tied No. 7 Palisades last week in a game that was called because of darkness. Favian Pinion pitched seven innings and struck out eight in the 4-4 tie. 

10. Carson (2-5)

Last week: NR

Carson is 2-5, but the Colts have played an extremely challenging schedule dropping games to West Ranch, El Toro and Dana Hills. Last week, Carson took down Venice 10-3.
