Top stars, best performances last week in Northern California high school baseball & softball (April 4-10)

While a handful of teams were still gone for spring break, most of NorCal high school baseball and softball was in action. And that means many of the top players in the state and country were putting up crazy numbers as usual. Here's a quick look at the top baseball and softball performance last week (April 4-10) across Northern California.

BASEBALL:

Max Vestal, Liberty (Madera):

Over the course of two blowout wins against Yosemite, Vestal went 4-5 and cumulatively hit for the cycle, racking up eight RBIs and scoring six runs.

Mitchell Parsons, Mammoth:

Parsons went a perfect 6-6 with two triples and two walks, and came around to score five times to lead the Grizzlies to a pair of lopsided wins.

Matthew Haggard, Marysville:

Haggard help lead the Indians to a 4-0 record with a complete game shutout and three-hitter on the mound against Sutter and a 4-6 performance at bat with two RBIs.

Miguel Ramos, Rodriguez:

Ramos helped lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 week throwing 5.1 scoreless innings in a win against Wood and hitting 5-11 with two homers, seven RBIs, and seven runs scored.

Ethan Winslow, Kingsberg:

Winslow helped lead the Vikings to a 3-0 week by throwing a complete game shutout against Central Valley Christian and batting 4-10 with two walks, four RBIs, and four runs scored.

Ian Guanzon, Pleasant Valley:

Guanzon helped steer the Vikings to a three-game sweep of Shasta by hitting 5-10 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and throwing a complete game for a win with just one earned run allowed.

Sutter Moss, Lassen:

Moss went 9-15 with nine RBIs, scored seven runs, and threw three scoreless innings for the 3-1 Grizzlies.

Dominic Rolla, Bellarmine College Prep:

Rolla pitched nine scoreless innings with just one hit allowed to defeat St. Ignatius 1-0 in extras.

Eric Ureste, Gunderson:

Ureste tossed a one-hitter with 12 K's and hit 3-5 with four RBIs in a blowout of Mt. Pleasant.

Cayden Munster, Clovis West:

Munster went 6-9 with two RBIs as the Golden Eagles took two games out of three against Clovis North.

Ethan Lay, Colusa:

Lay threw six scoreless innings with 11 K's in a 5-1 win against Pierce, and drew five walks in seven plate appearances across two wins to score four runs.

Ruben Ruiz, Exeter:

Ruiz helped the Monarchs go 2-1 last week batting 8-11 with a homer, a triple, two doubles, three stolen bases, and five runs.

Nate Wedderburn, Monterey:

In a two-game sweep of Gilroy, Wedderburn hit 3-6 with three walks and three runs scored, and threw 6.1 scoreless innings for a win.

Ryan Davis, Sutter:

Davis tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a rout of Oroville.

Hunter Gardener, San Jose:

In a two-game sweep of Yerba Buena, Gardner went 6-8 with three extra-base hits and seven RBIs, scored six times, and got a win on the mound with two runs allowed in five innings.

Connor Barth, Woodcreek:

Barth hit 6-9 with seven RBIs and five runs as the Timberwolves routed River Valley three times.

Kale Bagshaw, Los Molinos:

Bagshaw went 6-9 with three doubles, six RBIs, and five runs scored for the 3-0 Bulldogs.

Jackson Flora, Foothill (Pleasanton):

Flora threw a one-hitter and complete game shutout in a 2-0 win against Berean Christian.

Landon Rota, Cardinal Newman:

Rota led the Cardinals to a 3-0 win against Maria Carrillo by pitching five scoreless innings and batting 2-3 with two runs.

Darren Ortiz, Reedley:

Ortiz helped guide the Pirates to a two-game sweep of Fresno batting 5-8 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Caleb Ford, Ukiah:

Ford helped guide the Wildcats to a two-game sweep of Montgomery batting 5-8 with four RBIs and four runs scored, and throwing two scoreless innings.

Jake Tranchina, Vanden:

Tranchina went 9-16 with seven extra-base hits, four walks, nine RBIs, and seven runs for the 3-2 Vikings.

Jordan Jacobson, Del Campo:

Jacobson went 5-6 with four RBIs and three runs for the 2-0 Cougars.

SOFTBALL:

Celeste Hurtubise, St. Joseph Notre Dame:

Hurtubise went a perfect 8-8 with two homers, two doubles, and 10 RBIs in two lopsided wins, and came around to score all eight times.

Brinnon Beigel, Sierra Pacific:

Beigel threw two five-inning complete game shutouts and hit 4-7 with a home run and five RBIs.

Jacquelyn Lujan, Orestimba:

Lujan led the Warriors to a 3-0 week with two shutouts in the circle and a batting line of 6-10 with four doubles and seven RBIs.

Cassiti Baroni, Fort Bragg:

Baroni tossed her third straight no-hitter and went 3-5 at the plate to defeat Kelseyville, and followed it up with another complete game shutout against Cloverdale.

Elise Rojas, Kennedy (Fremont):

Rojas went 7-8 with four doubles, a triple, and nine RBIs in two blowout wins.

Maggie Klemesrud, Portola:

Klemesrud went 8-9 with a home run and three RBIs for the 1-1 Tigers.

Ashley Rudd, Biggs:

Rudd helped lead the Wolverines to a 4-1 week batting 12-15 with five walks and nine runs scored.

Neva Adams, Lassen:

Adams tossed a one-hit shutout and also batted 6-9 with two walks, eight RBIs, and five runs scored as the Grizzlies swept Central Valley in three games.

Raimy Gamsby, Vintage:

Gamsby threw three scoreless innings in a win against Napa followed by a complete game shutout against Casa Grande. She struck out 23 batters in those 10 innings and also hit 2-7 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Raegan Jackson, American Canyon:

Jackson went 7-9 with a long ball, two triples, and two doubles, five RBIs, and seven runs scored to help lead the Wolves to a 3-0 week.

Samantha Rocha, Notre Dame (Salinas):

Rocha shut out Watsonville and gave up one run in five innings in a win against San Benito, and also went 3-6 with two RBIs.

Anna Bean, Los Gatos:

Bean hit 5-12 with two home runs and six RBIs, threw a two-hit shutout, and threw another complete game victory with two runs allowed for the 3-0 Wildcats.

Emerson Meggers, Vacaville Christian:

Meggers helped lead the Falcons to two wins over San Juan batting 5-6 with three doubles, a triple, and a home run, four RBIs, and seven runs.

Jacqueline Solomon, Cupertino:

Solomon went 5-5 with three walks and scored four runs in two games.

Hailey Castanon, Woodland Christian:

Castanon hit 5-7 with five RBIs, walked four times, and scored seven runs to help steer the Cardinals to a 3-0 week.

Jenissa Conway, Marysville:

Conway led the Indians to a 2-0 record batting 6-7 with two homers and a double, six RBIs, and seven runs. 

Delainey Everett, Oakdale:

Everett threw a one-hit shutout to lead the Mustangs past Central Catholic 1-0, and pitched two scoreless innings and hit three doubles in a rout of Sierra.

Megan Grant, Aragon:

Grant went 4-6 with two walks, two homers, four RBIs, and four runs for the 2-0 Dons.

Ariana Montiel, Mercy:

Montiel helped lead the Crusaders to a 2-0 week batting 4-6 with three RBIs and five runs scored.

Matalie Greenwood, Los Banos:

Greenwood went 5-5 with three RBIs for the 2-0 Tigers.

Cassandra Zapata, Vanden:

Zapata went 6-9 with five RBIs for the 4-0 Vikings.
