LA City Section high school baseball championships will return to Dodger Stadium in May

The upper division title games haven't been played at Dodger Stadium since 2019 due to COVID-19.

Los Angeles City Section championship baseball games will be back at Dodger Stadium next month.

From 1969 to 2019 every upper division LA City title game took place at Dodger Stadium, but in 2020 the 51-year streak ended due to COVID-19. There was no postseason that year due to the coronavirus and last year when high school sports resumed, the City Section baseball championships were held at home sites.

That will not be the case this year. On Thursday the City Section Executive Committee approved a return to Dodger Stadium for the 2022 Open Division and Division 1 championship games. The Division 1 title game will be held at 10 a.m. on May 28 with the Open game beginning at 1 p.m.

The Open Division and Division 1 baseball semifinals will be played at USC on May 24 and May 25. Two games will be played each day. Lower division LA City Section baseball championships will be held at Birmingham High School  on May 27.

The LA City Section Open, Division 1 and Division 2 softball championship games will take place at Cal State Northridge on May 21.
