National powers St. John Bosco (California) and Allen (Texas) will play regular season football game in August 2022

Both schools have appeared in SBLive's Power 25 national high school football rankings in the last two years. Last season, St. John Bosco finished the season at No. 6.

St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) will travel to Allen High School in Texas for a regular season football game on August 26, Braves' Football Operations Manager Jessie Christensen confirmed to SBLive on Tuesday night.

St. John Bosco and Allen are two of the premier high school football programs in the nation. The Braves have two top 2023 prospects nationally on their roster in defensive end/tight end Matayo Uiagalelei and Louisville quarterback commit Pierce Clarkson. Allen has two blue-chip recruits in the 2024 class: edge rusher Zina Umeozulu and quarterback Michael Hawkins.

St. John Bosco went 10-2 a year ago and finished at No. 6 in SBLive's final Power 25 national high school football rankings of the 2021 season. Allen went 11-3 last year under first-year head coach Chad Morris. Morris was head football coach at the University of Arkansas from 2018 to 2019 and at SMU from 2015 to 2017 before taking charge at Allen a year ago.

Last season, California power and St. John Bosco rival Mater Dei traveled to Texas for a regular season game against Duncanville, another top program in the Lone Star state. Mater Dei won 45-3
