Top stars, best performances last week in Northern California high school baseball & softball (April 11-17)
For the third straight week, a noticeable chunk of Northern California high school baseball and softball teams were out of action for spring break. And yet, for the third straight week, that didn't stop NorCal from racking up a ridiculous list of standout performances. Here's a look at the best ones for the week of April 11-17.

SOFTBALL:
Shannon Keighran, Saint Francis (Mountain View):
A lot of Lancers had amazing weeks as they outscored their three opponents 42-0, but Keighran's line was the very best: hitting 8-9 with three home runs, six RBIs, and five runs scored, and throwing a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in the circle.
Lluvia Limón, Mt. Pleasant:
Limón went an amazing 9-9 with 10 RBIs and five runs scored for the 2-0 Cardinals.
Kailani Tatro, Pinole Valley:
Tatro had an essentially perfect week at bat for the 2-1 Spartans, going 6-6 with six walks and 12 RBIs.
Hazyl Gray, Vanden:
In Vanden's only game, Gray went three innings and combined with Samanie Simmons to throw a five-inning no-hitter against Wood, racking up five strikeouts and also hitting 3-3 with two RBIs.
Mariah Montalvo, St. Francis (Watsonville):
Montalvo went 9-12 with three homers, four doubles, two walks, 11 RBIs, and eight runs scored in four games.
Shelby Shanks, Bear Creek:
Shanks led the Bruins to a 2-0 week batting 5-6 with a long ball, two triples, four RBIs, and four runs scored, and pitching complete games in both with 22 K's and just one earned run allowed in 11 innings.
Michelle Hara, South San Francisco:
Hara slugged the Warriors to a 2-1 week going 9-10 at bat five extra-base hits and 10 RBIs. She also walked once and came around to score all 10 times she reached base.
Jena Emerson, Live Oak (Live Oak):
Emerson went off in a two-game sweep of Winters, hitting 8-9 with a homer, a triple, two doubles, three RBIs, and five runs scored.
Jordan Hayes, Lincoln (Stockton):
Hayes erupted for three homers and 10 RBIs on 6-8 batting, scoring a total of six times for 2-0 Lincoln.
Peja Goold, Lincoln (Stockton):
Goold also had a memorable week for the Trojans, throwing four perfect innings with 11 K's in 12 opportunities in a win against Tracy and hitting 5-9 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
Delainey Everett, Oakdale:
Everett threw a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts against East Union and batted 2-6 with a home run and five RBIs in two games, both wins.
Brooke Tran, Aragon:
Tran pitched seven scoreless innings across two wins, striking out 15, and also went 3-6 at the plate and scored two runs.
Hailey Ocumen, Willow Glen:
Ocumen batted 6-9 with four extra-base hits and seven RBIs for the 3-0 Rams, and came around to score eight times.
Ryan Maddox, Clovis North:
Maddox threw 12 shutout innings against league rivals Buchanan and Clovis in about four hours for the Broncos, striking out 23 and allowing only three hits in 10 innings. She also hit 3-7 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs.
Taylor Rodriguez, Livermore:
Rodriguez hit a double and a triple in five at-bats for six RBIs, threw a one-hit shutout, and allowed just one run in nine innings with 23 K's for the 2-0 Cowboys.
Apollonia Maldonado, Antioch:
Maldonado went 7-9 and drove in five runs in a two-game sweep of Deer Valley.
Sophie Mariottini, San Benito:
Mariottini guided the Haybalers to a 5-0 week by throwing 18 innings with only four runs allowed and batting 4-10 with 7 RBIs.
Thomara Drummer, San Rafael:
Drummer steered the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with a no-hitter in a 1-0 win against Redwood and a 4-6 performance at the dish with three RBIs.
Rose Malen, Marin Catholic:
Malen picked up wins in the circle in both of MC's games, throwing a three-hit shutout with 14 K's against Tamalpais and three more perfect innings against Novato. She also hit 2-5 with two RBIs.
Jacquelyn Lujan, Orestimba:
In two games, Lujan went 5-6 with four RBIs and four runs, and pitched six innings with just two earned runs allowed.
Emma Nelson, Franklin (Elk Grove):
Nelson helped power the Wildcats to a 2-0 week hitting 5-7 with four RBIs.
BASEBALL:
Johnny Wylie, Oakdale:
Wylie went 8-10 with three RBIs and scored six times, and even mixed in a three-hit shutout on the mound as the Mustangs went 3-0.
Emmet George, Marin Catholic:
George only played in one of MC's two games last week, but he pulled off a hat trick, going 4-5 with three big flies.
Leighton Tarke, Sutter:
Tarke headlined a dominant 4-0 week for the Huskies by batting 10-12 with three walks, five RBIs, and eight runs scored.
Liam Mahoney, Lowell:
Mahoney went 6-8 with five RBIs for the 2-1 Cardinals.
Freddy Rodriguez, River City:
Rodriguez went 4-10 with three walks, a homer, and 10 RBIs, and also pitched 4.1 innings with no earned runs allowed as the Raiders went 3-0.
Conner Barth, Woodcreek:
Barth went 7-11 with three RBIs and scored four times to help the Timberwolves go 3-0.
Alex Hernandez, Bear Creek:
Hernandez helped lead the Bruins to a 3-1 week hitting 9-12 with eight RBIs and four runs scored.
Dean Habbestad, Calaveras:
Habbestad helped guide Calaveras to a two-game sweep of Argonaut with a two-hit shutout in one game and a batting line of 4-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Aaron Martinez, Le Grand:
Martinez went 6-7 with a homer, three doubles, eight RBIs, and four runs in a two-game sweep of Delhi.
Anthony Keola, Florin:
In 13 at-bats, Keola amassed nine hits, a long ball, six doubles, 13 RBIs, and 10 runs scored in a three-game sweep of Johnson.
Michael Santos-LaPlaca, Kennedy (Sacramento):
Santos-LaPlaca went 6-7 with a walk, three RBIs, and three runs scored in two games.
Nolan Anderson, Central Catholic:
Anderson threw a one-hitter and complete game shutout against Sierra.
Jaylen Oats, Strathmore:
Oats guided the Spartans to a 3-1 week going 10-14 with a homer, two triples, two doubles, two walks, and four RBIs, scoring seven runs.
Bryce Duncan, Exeter:
Duncan batted 9-12 with seven RBIs and scored nine runs in just three games.
Liam Thompson, Branham:
Thompson went 3-6 with a homer and three RBIs and also hurled a one-hit shutout to lead the Bruins to a two-game sweep of Leigh.
Sal Espinoza, Lincoln (San Jose):
In a two-game sweep, Espinoza scorched San Jose for a 5-6 line with two triples and two walks, driving in nine and scoring all seven times he reached base.
Ryan Fernandez, Aragon:
Fernandez went 7-8 at the plate and scored four times for the 2-0 Dons.
Spencer Gradek, Design Tech:
Gradek helped lead the Dragons to a pair of blowout wins going 5-5 with a dinger, a double, three walks, four RBIs, and six runs scored. He also tossed a scoreless inning in which he struck out the side.
Ryan Cronk, Sierra Pacific:
Cronk went 9-16 with five doubles, 11 RBIs, and eight runs for the 3-1 Golden Bears.
Collin O'Driscoll, Carlmont:
O'Driscoll helped spark the Scots to a two-game sweep of Hillsdale hitting 6-8 and scoring four times.
Dillon Goetz, Sequoia:
Goetz hit 7-8 with two home runs, a double, and two walks, driving in three and scoring four times as the Ravens went 2-1.
Xavier Nelson, Rancho San Juan:
Nelson went 7-10 with a home run, four doubles, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored to power the Trailblazers to a 3-0 week, and added a scoreless inning on the mound.
Malcolm Moore, McClatchy:
Moore went 7-13 with three homers, three walks, nine RBIs, and six runs in four games.
Hunter Fujimoto, Valley Christian (San Jose)
Fujimoto helped the Warriors to a 3-0 week hitting 6-10 with six RBIs.
Jarren Advincula, Archbishop Mitty:
Advincula batted 4-10 with all four hits going for extra-bases, driving in seven runs and scoring four times to lift the Monarchs to a 3-0 finish.
Dylan Peterson, Casa Grande:
Peterson went 6-10 at the plate with two walks, three steals, six RBIs, and two runs for the 2-0 Gauchos.
