Mater Dei's Brannon Martinsen is SBLive Southern California Athlete of the Week (1/29/2024)

One of California's top teams' leading scorer has huge game in State Preview Classic to pave way for weekly award

Brannon Martinsen can really fill up the basket.

The leading scorer on the season (17.8 points per game) for the state's No. 5 team scored a season-high 25 points in a 91-80 victory over Campbell Hall on Jan. 20 in the State Preview Classic.

That put Martinsen, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, on an SBLive Sports top performance list.

He then recorded 33 percent of the vote last week to secure him as the SBLive Southern California Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 15-20.
