As part of our end-of-season all-state awards, SBLive will recognize the top players and coaches around the state in Florida high school basketball for their phenomenal performances during the 2021-22 season.

The following standout student-athletes have been named finalists for SBLive’s Florida High School Girls Basketball 2A Player of the Year, which honors the state’s most valuable player on the court in Class 2A.

Before we release our awards, we want your opinion. Who do you think should be the 2A Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Year?

Daniela Aybar, So. (Dade Christian)

In just 14 games played this season, Aybar averaged 24.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game for the Crusaders.

Siarah Brown, Jr. (Orlando Christian Prep)

Brown averaged 20.7 points and seven rebounds per game this season for the Lady Warriors.

Kaeley Einheuser, Sr. (St. Joseph Academy)

Einheuser averaged 10 points and 10.8 rebounds per game this season for the Flashes.

Sydney Jackwin, Sr. (Keswick Christian)

Jackwin averaged 12.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and nearly five steals per game this season.

Ameari Logan, Sr. FAMU High (Tallahassee)

Logan averaged 19.2 points and nearly seven steals per game this season for the Baby Rattlers.

Leah Martin-Gonzales, Sr. (St. John Neumann)

Martin-Gonzales led the Lady Celtics to the 2A Semifinals, finishing the season averaging 18.4 points and nearly five steals per game.

Kailani Merrell, 8th Grade (Calvary Christian Academy- Ormond Beach)

Merrell averaged 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this season for the Lions.

Sophie McCartney, Sr. (St. John Neumann)

McCartney averaged 16.4 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this season for the Lady Celtics.

Camryn Patterson, So. (Faith Christian)

Patterson led the Lions to their first ever state championship game appearance, finishing the season averaging 10.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Taliah Scott, Jr. (St. John’s Country Day)

The Arkansas commit averaged 31.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game this season for the Lady Spartans.

Samantha Vales, So. (Miami Christian)

Vales averaged 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.4 steals per game this season, leading the Victors to their 2nd straight state title.
