We’ve compiled a list of the top Florida high school baseball players throughout state and we ask you the fan to vote on which player is the best heading into the 2023 season

The winter season for high school sports is beginning to wind down and that means spring sports is right around the corner. Baseball is one of the top sports when it comes to the spring season and there’s plenty of good players down in the Sunshine State.

Some of the best high school baseball talent around the country comes from down in Florida and we went ahead and compiled a list of who we think are the top players in the state. We ask you the fan to take a look at our list and give us your vote on who do you think the top high school baseball player in Florida is. 

Aidan Miller, 3B, Mitchell: The Arkansas commitment is slated to be drafted in the opening round of the 2023 MLB Draft as a third baseman. Miller is a power hitter and was named the All-American Game Most Valuable Player. 

George Lombard Jr., INF, Gulliver Prep: Ranked among the Top 100 prospects heading into the 2023 MLB Draft. Lombard Jr. is already committed to Vanderbilt and batted .360 and hit nine home runs and drove in 19 runs last season. 

Cameron Johnson, P, IMG Academy: The 6-foot-5 southpaw spent most of his prep career playing in Maryland before heading to IMG. Johnson is ranked No. 50 amongst the 2023 MLB Draft prospects.   

Arjun Nimmala, SS, Strawberry Crest: The Florida State commitment is one of the top shortstops in the country after a stellar junior season for the Chargers. He’s a Top 50 prospect when it comes to the 2023 MLB Draft.  

Liam Peterson, P, Clearwater Calvary Christian: You can’t have this list without Peterson somewhere on it. The right gander is one of the best pitchers in the country throwing in the 91-95 miles per hour range for a fastball. He’s a Florida commit, but is a sure fire draft pick. 

Christian Rodriguez, P/INF, Stoneman Douglas: Rodriguez, a Florida commit, was selected to play for US Baseball 18U World Cup team and being apart of multiple state championship teams has helped. Last season, Rodriguez went 7-1 with a staggering 1.11 earned run average. 

Daniel Cuvet, INF, St. Thomas Aquinas: The infielder as a sophomore had a strong season and that was a sign of him ascending. Cuvet will be a 2023 MLB Draft prospect to watch for all season long. 

Caden McDonald, P/INF, Sickles: McDonald was the recipient of the Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award for his play in the 2022 season. The pitcher/first baseman hit an astounding .600, nailing eight home runs and went 9-2 on the mound. 

Garrett Baumann, P, Hagerty: One of the tallest pitching prospects in the high school circuit at 6-foot-8, Baumann is another top prospect when it comes to the 2023 MLB Draft. In 2022, Baumann went 6-2 with a 1.62 earned run average. 

Wes Mendes, P/OF, Jesuit: Ole Miss was able to flip Mendes from Vanderbilt and he’s one of the Tampa Bay area’s top players. Mendes in three seasons at Jesuit, he’s batted .391 hit six home runs and driven in 43 runs. 

Hunter Dietz, P, Clearwater Calvary Christian: Another big arm on the Warriors’ star-studded cast of pitchers, Dietz stands at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds as a lefty. Already committed to Arkansas, Dietz is ranked No. 74 as a 2023 MLB Draft prospect. 

Frank Menendez, P, Doral Academy: The Firebirds’ pitching staff is full of studs and Menendez is another standout. As a junior, he went 6-2 with a 1.91 earned run average and struck out 68 batters. 

Charlee Soto, P, Reborn Christian: With an elite fastball at the high school level, Soto can reach speeds of 98 miles per hour. He’s ranked No. 17 when it comes to 2023 draft prospects. 

Trey Beard, P/INF, Dunedin: The Florida Atlantic commitment can do it on the mound and in the infield. The 6-foot-3, 180 pound senior will be the Falcons’ top player this spring. 

Adrian Santana, INF, Doral Academy: The younger brother of Christian Santana, the shortstop has seen his stock continue to rise. Santana is a switch hitter and is already committed to the University of Miami (FL). 

Bryson Howard, P, Chipley: Howard was a top pitcher in Class 1A last year and his numbers prove he’s going to have another strong season. In 2022, Howard went 9-1 with an incredible 0.81 earned run average and struck out 102 batters. He’s got a fastball that ranges around 85 miles per hour. 

Kevin Martinez, P/INF, Island Coast: When it comes to top players in Southwest Florida, Martinez is amongst the best. Last year for the Gators, Martinez went 12-1 on the mound with a 1.27 earned run average and struck out a total of 91 batters.
