NAPLES, FLORIDA – One of the nation’s top wide receiver recruits is Chance Robinson from Fort Lauderdale's Saint Thomas Aquinas.

He’s been a big-time recruit for a long time, and he was playing with South Florida Express during this past weekend’s SUP7R 7v7 event in Naples, Fla. Robinson took a few minutes to discuss his recruitment with SBLive Sports.

When the wide receiver was asked which schools he had enjoyed communicating with, Robinson mentioned the following four traditional Power 5 programs.

“Florida, Penn State, Texas A&M…Miami,” Robinson said.

Speaking of the Hurricanes, they have made Robinson a priority recruit.

“(Coach David) Cooney, coach Cooney has been talking to me a lot. He’s like the (wide) receivers coach right now because coach (Josh) Gattis is gone. Coach Cooney texted me this morning, actually.

“(Head) coach (Mario) Cristobal, he texts me and my dad all the time. He’s talking to us right now until they figure out who they’ve got (as the wide receivers coach).”

The schools coming after him are no surprise either.

“Florida, Florida State, Miami…Penn State. All the schools stand out to me right now. I couldn’t really narrow it down.

“Soon enough I’ll have to make a decision, so as of right now I’m just taking it slow and keeping my options open.”

As for when Robinson would like to make a decision, that’s not set in stone.

“Probably not. I mean, what I really want to do is be committed before the season, but as of right now, I’m still just talking to coaches.”

One of the critical factors for many Florida prospects, historically speaking, has been distance from home. Robinson had a different perspective.

“Not necessarily. I mean, sometimes you have to leave to get what you want. So, wherever I go, I just want to get developed and have a chance to play at the next level (NFL).”

Having watched Robinson at three different seven-on-seven tournaments this year, there’s one clear reason he’s been coveted by numerous programs: speed.

This was a young man that shot off the line of scrimmage and quickly closed the distance between himself and the opposing defensive back. Seeing him make cuts, breaking down and changing directions with ease, made it easy to see why he had offers from numerous programs across the country.

Robinson’s recruitment has just started to heat up. It’s going to be interesting to see with which college football program he ends up signing a national letter of intent.
