Now that the fall season is over, SBLive is turning its attention to the winter sports.

This week we unveil our first Southwest Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week poll for the 2023-24 season. We will have a poll early each week, and voting will be open until Sunday. The winner will be announced in the following week's poll.

Here are the nominees for the first girls basketball poll of the year:

Marissa Burchard, LaBelle: Scored 26 and 27 points on back-to-back nights for the Cowboys.

Melody Charlton, Palmetto Ridge: Averaged 16 points and 3.3 steals a game as the Bears won three straight games.

Lilly Fultz, Gulf Coast: Had back-to-back 20-point, 5-rebound games in two victories.

Peyton Hefflefinger, Barron Collier: Scored 38 points and made eight 3-pointers in two wins last week.

Angelina Insana, Aubrey Rogers: Helped the Patriots stay unbeaten with 39 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 15 steals in three games.

Bianca Iten, North Fort Myers: Totaled 42 points, 25 rebounds and 12 steals in three games last week.

Sophie McCartney, St. John Neumann: Went for 61 points, 51 rebounds and 11 steals combined in three wins.

Kenyah Moss, Gateway: Put up 25.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per game to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 record.

Maddie O'Berski, Evangelical Christian: Tallied 40 points, 27 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals as ECS went 3-0 last week.

Lilly Witz, Cypress Lake: Averaged 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals a game as the Panthers moved to 6-0.
