Vote Now: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week (12/17/2023)?

We’ve selected 18 candidates for your consideration

To say that Central Florida girls’ basketball players have game is an understatement.

Area athletes are racking up impressive numbers heading into the holiday season. And fans likely can expect plenty more going forward.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 18 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 11-16, 2023.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Avery Mikels, Guard, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): Talented 5-foot-11 freshman continued her stellar play with 25 points in a 73-27 romp against Victory Christian (Lakeland). She also had 20 points in a 63-31 victory against Ridgeview Global Studies, and 21 points in a 49-16 win against Cocoa Beach.

Tierra Coleman, Guard/Small Forward, Wekiva: The 5-8 senior continues to lead the Mustangs, recording 16 points, three rebounds and five steals in a 68-11 romp against Freedom (Orlando). She also had 14 points, five rebounds and two steals in a 55-47 win against West Orange (Winter Garden).

Maliyah Lockhart, Small Forward, Winter Park: The sophomore scored 13 points to pace the Wildcats past Mount Dora, 52-7.

Amanda Lang, Guard, Trinity Prep (Winter Park): The 5-6 senior poured in 21 points to lead the Saints past Cornerstone Charter, 55-40. She also had 15 points in a 40-21 triumph against Lake Buena Vista.

Lilly Jacobus, Guard, Oviedo: Senior continues to dominate for the Lions, recording 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals in a narrow 45-42 win against Seminole (Sanford).

Dakara Merthie, Guard, Lake Mary: Sophomore turned in another super performance with 30 points in a 76-58 victory against Lake Howell (Winter Park).

Bianca Hall, Guard, The First Academy (Orlando): The 5-6 freshman poured in 17 points to lead the Royals past Four Corners (Davenport), 49-20.

Zaria Nelson, Guard, Evans (Orlando):Junior turned in a strong effort with 16 points, four assists, four rebounds and seven steals in a 56-22 win against Lake Buena Vista.

McKenna Murphy, Guard, Boone (Orlando): Senior continues to shine, recording 20 points and six assists in a 64-19 victory against Windermere. She also had 17 points in a 55-22 win against Olympia (Orlando).

Haylee Morelli, Guard/Small Forward, Trinity Christian (Deltona): Fantastic freshman poured in 33 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, in a hard-fought 53-50 win against Circle of Life Christian Academy (Kissimmee).

Talia St. Hilaire, Forward, City of Life Christian Academy (Kissimmee): Star senior continues to be one of the top players in the area, recording 37 points, 12 steals and 10 rebounds for a triple-double in a loss to Trinity Christian.

Aranya Alexander, Guard, Mount Dora Christian: Freshman pumped in 17 points in a 70-29 win against Legacy Charter (Ocoee).

Jasmine Bocca, Point Guard, Colonial (Orlando): Senior had a big day in a 56-46 win against Oak Ridge (Orlando) with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, two rebounds, and three assists.

Patricia Casimir, Center, Lake Minneola: Powerful junior recorded a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds in an 82-42 romp against Windermere.

Arlinda Roundtree, Forward, Olympia: The 5-7 senior notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and added six steals in a 43-37 loss to Lake Nona.

Phillayjah Carroll, Guard, Space Coast Junior/Senior High (Cocoa): Amazing seventh-grader recorded 35 points, including three 3-pointers, in a 75-16 romp against Pineapple Cove Classical Academy (Palm Bay).

Destiny Pickard, Guard, Sebastian River: Freshman had 11 points, two rebounds and two assists to lead the Sharks past Space Coast Junior/Senior High (Cocoa), 61-36.

Camryn Reid, Forward, Vero Beach: The 5-9 senior notched 13 points, nine rebounds, and one assist in a 44-37 victory against (West) Palm Beach Lakes.
