Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week (12/17/2023)?

We’ve selected 20 candidates for your consideration

Central Florida boys basketball players continue to make a big impression on the court this season.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 20 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 11-16, 2023.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. The poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Cameron Codio, Point Guard, Bishop Moore (Orlando): Senior backcourt star had a big stat line with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Hornets (7-3) in a 68-60 win against Father Lopez (Daytona Beach) in a battle of Catholic schools.

Jordan Tillery, Wing/Guard, Oak Ridge (Orlando): Georgia Southern commit dropped 25 points to lead the powerful Pioneers (6-2) to a 65-55 victory against Apopka.

Jermichael Johnson, Small Forward, Apopka: The 6-foot-3 junior recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Oak Ridge.

T.J. Drain, Power Forward, Windermere: The 6-7 junior poured in a single-game scoring record of 35 points and added 14 rebounds for a double-double in a 66-61 win against Olympia (Orlando).

Tristen Coates, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Winter Park: The 6-2 senior continues to shine with 17 points, leading the Wildcats past Boone (Orlando), 52-41, in a battle of Metro Conference schools. He also had 20 points in a 58-54 overtime win against Lake Howell (Winter Park), and 30 points in a 70-64 victory against Colonial (Orlando).

Jacob Osborne, Guard/Forward, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): The 6-3 senior notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists to lead the Lions past East Ridge (Clermont), 83-39.

Landen Paquette, Small Forward/Guard, Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs): The 6-4 senior pumped in 18 points to lead the Patriots past Lyman (Longwood), 56-41.

Jemeh Jones, Small Forward, Orlando Christian Prep: The 6-5 senior dropped a game-high 17 points and added five rebounds to lead the unbeaten Warriors (7-0) past Lake Nona, 55-34.

Javi Rowell, Point Guard, Mount Dora Christian: The senior pumped in 22 points to lead the Bulldogs past Orangewood Christian (Maitland), 69-36. He also had 27 points in a 63-55 victory against Legacy Charter (Ocoee).

Lucas Valdes, Utility, Circle Christian (Winter Park): Junior scored 19 points in a 70-42 win against Crooms Academy (Sanford).

Zion Mitchell, Point Guard/Shooting Guard/Wing, Edgewater (Orlando): Senior star recorded 27 points, four rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot to propel the unbeaten Eagles (9-0) past Windermere, 84-83, in a brutal battle.

Kaiden White, Point Guard/Shooting Guard, Olympia (Orlando): The 6-4 senior pumped in 23 points to push the Titans past Evans (Orlando), 67-66.

Jeremiah Berchal, Guard, Lake Mary: Senior dropped 20 points to lead the Rams past Cypress Creek (Orlando), 48-34.

Caleb Pennyfeather, Forward/Guard, Oviedo: The towering 6-9 senior recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double and added three blocked shots in a 48-31 victory against Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs).

Brandon Bass Jr., Guard, Windermere Prep: Sophomore recorded 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lakers (5-1) past Jones (Orlando), 71-56.

Alex Dipaolo, Small Forward/Power Forward, Hagerty (Oviedo): The 6-4 sophomore scored 16 points to lead the Huskies past Lyman (Longwood), 52-44. He also had 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 94-50 romp against Merritt Island.

Jay Matthews, Guard, Cocoa Beach: Dropped 28 points and added eight rebounds, two assists and seven steals in a 71-33 victory against Pineapple Cove Classical Academy (Palm Bay).

Zeke Aime, Guard/Wing, Palm Bay: Senior recorded 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals in a 77-41 victory against Titusville.

Jaylen Shelly, Wing/Shooting Guard/ Point Guard, Vero Beach: Talented senior notched 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 62-53 win against Bayside.

Andrew Simpson, Guard/Forward, Sebastian River: Junior recorded 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals in a 47-32 win against St. Edward’s (Vero Beach).
