Jeremiah Smith, the nation's No. 1 rated football recruit, has upheld his verbal commitment to Ohio State.

On Early National Signing Day, Wednesday, surrounded by family and friends on the Chaminade-Madonna campus, Smith announced that he intends to honor his commitment to join the Buckeyes. However, he did not submit his National Letter of Intent until late Wednesday evening, opening the door to speculation that he may change his mind and sign elsewhere.

Smith, who won the Nat Moore Trophy, Tuesday night, as the top player in Florida, led Chaminade-Madonna to an undefeated season and the Florida Class 1M state championship this season. He committed to Ohio State last December, but has been heavily pressured by other schools, including Miami, in recent days to make a flip.

Ohio State has a rich history of sending star wide receivers to the NFL and Smith has all the tools to follow a similar path.
