Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week (1/15/2023)?

We’ve selected 33 candidates for your voting consideration

Central Florida boys basketball players turned it up and then some in the week leading up to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 33 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 8-13, 2024.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Derik Queen, Forward, Montverde Academy: The 6-foot-10 senior from Baltimore recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds and added six assists to lead the national power Eagles past Brewster Academy (N.H.), 91-58, in the 2024 Hall-of-Fame Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

Ryan Blount, Guard/Forward, Rockledge: Senior transfer from Oviedo erupted for 29 points, including the game-winner at the buzzer, to lead the Raiders past The Master’s Academy (Oviedo), 61-59, in the Sun Bash Tournament at Central Florida Christian Academy in Orlando.

Dylan Labuhn, Shooting Guard, The Master’s Academy (Oviedo): The 6-3 senior scored 27 points to lead the Eagles in a close loss to Rockledge.

Quin‘Darius Rumph, Power Forward, Seminole (Sanford): Talented 6-foot-9 senior exploded for 30 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double and added two steals to lead the Seminoles past Lake Mary, 79-60.

Kason Beezer, Guard, Cypress Creek (Orlando): Sophomore had another big day for the Bears with 15 points, including the game-winning shot at the buzzer, and added four assists and three steals in a wild 50-48 overtime win against West Orange. Earlier, he scored 13 points in a 58-51 win against Freedom (Orlando), and 12 points in a 42-37 victory against Timber Creek (Orlando).

Tristan McNeal, Point Guard, Freedom (Orlando): Junior scored 19 points in a loss to Cypress Creek.

Mikey Madueme, Forward, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando): Talented 6-5 sophomore exploded for another big game with 23 points and eight rebounds in an 82-69 victory against Forest (Ocala). Earlier, he recorded 14 points and seven rebounds in a 55-52 win against The First Academy (Orlando).

Kade Manley, Guard, Mainland (Daytona Beach): Fantastic freshman exploded for 27 points to lead the Bucs past IMG Academy Blue (Bradenton), 83-72.

Beegie Gordon, Guard, DeLand: Super sophomore recorded nine points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots to lead the Bulldogs past University High (Orange City), 61-53.

Aidon Amoah, Power Forward, University High (Orange City): The 6-5 senior notched a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to DeLand.

Kameren Wright, Guard, Olympia (Orlando): The 6-6 senior poured in 25 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter and overtime, to lead Olympia past Edgewater (Orlando), 69-58, in the Metro Conference West Division championship game.

Myles Mayfield, Forward, Edgewater (Orlando): Senior scored 16 points in a narrow loss to Olympia.

Jordan Tillery, Wing/Guard, Oak Ridge (Orlando): Georgia Southern signee Jordan Tillery exploded for 24 points and four assists to lead the national power Pioneers to a 91-41 victory against University High (Orlando) for the Metro Conference East Division championship.

Mo Kamara, Small Forward/Power Forward/Center, University High (Orlando): The 6-8 junior scored 17 points in a loss to Oak Ridge (Orlando). Earlier, he poured in a career-tying 30 points in a 69-39 romp against East River (Orlando).

Lorenzo DeJesus, Guard, The First Academy (Orlando): The 6-2 senior poured in 20 points in a loss to Lake Highland Prep (Orlando).

Brandon Bass, Jr., Shooting Guard, Windermere Prep: Talented sophomore turned in another stellar performance with 23 points and nine rebounds in an 80-43 victory against Seffner Christian. Earlier, he had 22 points, nine rebounds and four steals in a 78-49 win against Central Florida Christian.

T.J. Drain, Power Forward, Windermere High: The 6-7 junior dropped 25 points on Evans (Orlando) in a 74-70 Metro Conference West Division third-place game victory. Earlier, he scored 21 points in a 71-50 win against Ocoee.

Tre DuBois, Guard, Evans:The 6-1 junior scored 18 points in a close loss to Windermere High.

Caleb Pennyfeather, Forward/Guard, Oviedo: Talented 6-9 senior recorded a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds and added six blocked shots in a big 77-56 win over crosstown rival Hagerty.

Jay Miller, Point Guard, Umatilla: Sophomore scored 14 points in a 62-60 win against Mount Dora Christian Academy.

Ethan Priest, Forward, Mount Dora Christian: The 6-5 junior recorded 23 points in a loss to Umatilla.

Omar Vincent, Power Forward, Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle): Senior scored 14 points to lead the Ducks past The Geneva School (Casselberry), 57-43.

Jacob Osborne, Guard/Forward, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): The 6-3 senior broke loose for a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds in an 84-49 victory against City of Life Christian (Kissimmee).

Jvarius Gibson, Guard, Bridge to Independence (Orlando): The 6-1 junior erupted for 20 points, including 6-for-8 from the 3-point line, in a 72-63 win against Christian Learning Academy (Apopka).

Cheo James, Guard, Boone (Orlando): Talented 6-3 senior had 17 points for the Braves in a 75-46 loss to Oak Ridge (Orlando). Earlier, he recorded 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 62-59 victory against Jones (Orlando).

Alex Dipaolo, Forward, Hagerty (Oviedo): Sophomore recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds and added six assists and six blocks to lead the Huskies past Winter Springs, 71-38.

Ameer Ramadan, Guard, Orlando Christian Prep: Talented senior recorded 18 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead the powerful Warriors past Viera, 72-52.

Landen Paquette, Small Forward/Guard, Lake Brantley: (Altamonte Springs): The 6-4 senior poured in 30 points to spark the Patriots past Hagerty (Oviedo), 65-41.

Zeke Aime, Guard/Wing, Palm Bay: The 6-4 senior scored 18 points to lead the Pirates past Bayside (Palm Bay), 75-25, in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament.

Ralph Smith, Forward, Titusville: The 6-4 junior poured in 19 points to lead the Terriers past Space Coast (Cocoa), 53-44, in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament.

Brooks Harris, Guard, Viera: The 6-2 sophomore pumped in 19 points to lead the Hawks past Eau Gallie (Melbourne), 67-42, in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament.

Michael Otero, Guard, Satellite: Sophomore dropped 19 points on West Shore (Melbourne) in a 57-51 win in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament.

Beau Couture, Guard/Wing, West Shore (Melbourne): The 6-4 junior scored 23 points in a loss to Satellite in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament.
